12 Gauge energy shot.  Kick Ass Cola

You know naming a shot after ammo is fairly popular. Not only does it work well with a shot but it also gives the opportunity for some cool packaging. There is only one catch though. You have to deliver a good and or unique product in the unique package to bring in repeat sales. It seems that 12 Gauge is already in line with 2 of these things being that it comes in a shotgun shell and it is made as a mixer. Let’s see if it delivers on all three.

Packaging: I love this shotgun shell package. I mean how could you not? I like the shotgun blasted logo and the distressed fonts. It pretty clean as well without much clutter. Only thing I miss is the caffeine amount which is no listed. Grade A for packaging

Slogan:  “Kills Fatigue” is right on the front of the bottle and it’s a bullseye. It fits perfect with the product. Grade A

Taste:  So being that is billed as a great mixer I tried it first mixed with some Jim Beam and a splash of plain soda. Made a great authentic tasting bourbon and coke. I also tried it alone and it was also very tasty. It has a good cola taste but not as strong as I expected. It had a mild cola taste with a smooth finish and no bitterness or after taste. Either way it was pretty good. Grade B

Kick/ingredients.  When it was mixed with the Jim Beam I got a nice kick along with the buzz from the bourbon. It was good and kept me alert and I could see having a couple of these to keep the party going. With a mixer you don’t want an over the top amount of caffeine that way you can have more than one. I tried the shot straight up to get over the 2:30 slump and it hit me good in the usual 15 minutes. I got a nice mid level buzz that got me through to quitting time and more(4 to 5 hours). There were no jitters or crash but it was a good strong buzz. I’d put it a notch or 2 above your typical RB type 8.4 oz energy drink. Each blast from this shell is delivered by caffeine, Taurine, Glucuronolactone, Tyrosine, L- Phenylalanine, a big dose of B vitamins, and the enzyme blend of Amylase, Protease, Lipase, Cellulase, and Lactase. It comes in at 0 calories, carbs, and sugar. It is sweetened with sucralose. Grade B-

Web presence:  The site at 12gaugeenergy.com is not bad. I love the campy feel and it had me thinking of the coming Zombie Apocalypse with the imagery of girls and shotguns. They have a store, drink recipes, and some images.  They could use some product ingredient info. They also have a Facebook and a Twitter. Grade C+ for web presence. If you order using the code lakers1 you get 5 dollars off compliments of edjunkie.com. I could have made money off this but hey that is not what I do.
Recap:

So I was really blown away but the 12 gauge shot. It delivered a good kick, made one of the better mixers I have had, looks awesome, and taste pretty good. These look awesome in the bar, at the deer lease, at your next party, tailgating for the big game, or just about anywhere you are looking to have a good time. I still have one left I plan on trying with rum and I know it’s going to be good. I hope you get a chance to try one or 2 of these and let me know what you think. Stock up for the Zombie apocalypse! I’d love to see them expand the line and offer a double-ought buckshot version with a stronger kick. I see a lot of possibilities with this brand.
