24: 7 Crash
24:7 Coffee+Energy Caffe latte
Along with shots the other segment taking off in the energy field is Coffee drinks with energy ingredients. I think these appeal more to coffee drinkers than to energy drink consumers for the most part. That said I like the change of pace myself so I am always happy to see some kicked up coffee drinks. 24:7 is a Walgreens brand of energy drink made for them by PRILABS. I have not really enjoyed the other 24:7 drinks so far but I had high hopes when I saw they had a Coffee+Energy drink. I figure it will have more kick than their other drinks.
Packaging: 24:7 Caffe Latte comes in a 16 oz medium brown aluminum can. At the top it is a darker brown with the name “Caffe Latte” in a gold digital style font with a little gold and brown steaming coffee cup graphic below that. In the middle there is a background pattern of the coffee cup and the name 24:7 and Coffee+Energy vertical in the same gold digital font. At the bottom is a pattern of little digital “24:7 energy” graphics. Back has the nutrition info. I will give them a grade of C+ for packaging. I like the little coffee cup and the gold Digital font. Other than that though there is just not much else interesting.
Slogans: None anywhere at all to be found. No little paragraph, Nothing on the web. They get a grade of F for slogan.
Taste ect: I open the can and it smells like coffee. Not like a top shelf coffee but still not bad. I take a sip an it is pretty lackluster. It is mildly sweet but it is pretty watery tasting with really no creaminess at all. I don’t like overly creamy coffee energy drinks but for a “latte” there should be some. I think it reminds me of a Yahoo without the chocolate. I offered some to my wife who like coffee drinks and she took a sip and said “Yuk”. I think that sums it up. Very little coffee or cream taste, just water and a little bitterness. Grade D. I could stand to drink it all but not something I would want to drink again.
Kick/Ingredients: Ok so it taste bad but does it have any kick? Well I got a little buzz. I’d say it was less than a good cup of coffee though. Ok so maybe it was like if you drank one of those tiny 6 or 8 oz cups of weak coffee that is 50% creamer. Energy ingredients per can are Taurine 50mg, caffeine 10 mg, L-Carnitine 4.92 mg, Glucuronolactone 1.0 mg, Ginsing 34.4 mg, Guarana 4.92 mg and some B vitamins. Main 4 ingredients in order are Whole milk, Water, Sugar, and “Coffee energy blend”. Top it off with 380 calories, 10 grams of fat, 42 grams of sugar. Can you say weak? Can you say rip-off? Grade F for kick/ingredients. That is the lamest energy ingredient I have ever seen in a drink and they misspelled ginseng even spelling it “ginsing”. They actually charge more for this drink than the regular energy drink. 2.50 per can!
Web presence: No real site for 24:7. There is a site for the manufacturer prilabs.com but all they have on this drink is a flash video. Grade D for web presence.
Recap:
I will say that even for a dollar per can you would feel ripped off. These people should be ashamed to even call this an energy drink or coffee. Avoid this drink. I can usually find some redeeming qualities in most all energy drinks and products but not this one. I guess having the can for your collection is about the only reason to buy this one since it is not awful looking. Come on 50mg of Taurine and 10mg of caffeine! They should of put decaffeinated on the label. Man this belongs on my bottom 10 list when I make one.
