420 Hemp Energy Purple Dank
Ok so I know a little about hemp and it is a plant that is misunderstood by many. It has many legitimate uses. I’m not going to try and educate you on it but check out the wiki article on hemp. I think you will find it very interesting. Knowing what I do I was thrilled to see an energy drink that included Hemp seed extract. Hemp seed extract is used in a lot of product and has a lot of nutritional value.
Packaging: 420 energy comes in an 8.4 oz aluminum can. The can has a plastic shrink wrap label but is has been done very well. Not sure who they used for their cans but they did a great job on the shrink job. The can is purple and has a pattern in the back ground. Looking really close it turns out the pattern is hemp seeds! Around the top is the flavor “Purple Dank” in a white cursive type font. Below this is a black band that Reads “Time to Ignite” in a yellow gothic type font. Below that you have “Anything but ordinary”. In the middle of the can you have a green circle surrounding a skull with some lightning and the name “Jack Herer 420 Hemp Energy infusion”. Towards the bottom you have “Time to Replenish” and some other text. The back has the usual nutrition facts. This is a nice looking can. It is a little busy but they maximize the label to get as much information on there as possible. I will give them a grade of B for packaging
Slogan: Ok so there are many to choose from but I’m going with “Time to Ignite” and “To Keep you on your Highway the Smart way”. They really threw out a lot of slogans for this drink. I will give them a grade of B+ for slogans
Taste: Really I was expecting grape since it is called purple dank and the can is purple. When I pop open the can you get a scent that is similar to RB clone but different. It has a more organic berry scent. I pour some in a glass and it comes out a reddish maroon/purple color with a mild carbonation. It is really hard to describe this color. I take a sip and it tastes a little RB like but that is really in the background. In the front you get a grape/berry mix with some herbal Mate flavor mixed in. Towards the finish there is some tartness that really sets this flavor off. It was super tasty and I really enjoyed it. I am giving them a grade of A for taste. Just don’t spill it because this baby will stain something seriously with its dense coloring (think spilling purple grape juice).
Kick/Ingredients: Well to tell you the truth I would not associate 420 with energy. If you are not familiar with the term 420 read this wiki article on 420. I drank it down quickly because as I said it was really good and the carbonation was low allowing me to slam it down. In about 15 minutes I was feeling more alert. In 30 minutes I was wide eyed and going full blast. I had a ton of energy and was somewhat jittery. This is a strong drink! The buzz lasted several hours but there was some crash at the end since this is not a sugar free drink. For ingredients you have Sucrose, Glucose, Taurine, Glucuronolactone, Guarana, Mate, Caffeine, Inositol, Hemp Seed extract, Grape seed extract, and B vitamins. Wow that is a lot of ingredients. Hemp seed extract is high in the two essential fatty acids (EFA’s), Omega-3 and Omega-6! You get 135 calories and 30 grams of sugar. I was not expecting this kind of buzz and I’m giving 420 energy a grade of B+ for kick/ingredients
Web Presence: There is a nice site at 420hemponline.com where you can find information on 420 energy drinks and other hemp based products. There is not a lot there but it a nice site that is mostly a store. Then you have the 420 energy myspace which is very active and at YouTube they have a nice 420 energy channel that they keep up-to-date. I will give them a B+ for web presence. Maybe they don’t have an awesome flash website with a ton of stuff but they are active online in a lot of ways that take more effort.

Not having heard much about this drink I did not know what to expect. Like I said 420 is not associated with energy and I thought maybe this would be one of those “Jump on the energy drink bandwagon” drinks. I was way wrong! This drink is well thought out and produced. You can tell the people behind 420 are serious about this drink. It taste great and kicks the crap out of you! Even if you’re not into 420 or the hemp movement in any way you should check this out. It is a serious energy drink. I would think it would make an awesome mixer as well so if you’re of age give that a shot. Great job and I look forward to trying the other flavor and their version of a shot called “snaps” as soon as they are released.
