8 Hour energy shot
Ok so on to another shot review. Man these things come at me faster than I can drink them. This time I’m trying 8 hour energy by Mr Energy. 8 hours is a big claim but based on the company’s reputation and the ingredients I have pretty high hopes.
Packaging: The usual 2 oz shot bottle. The label is cute and pretty cluttered. They really jammed a lot of info onto this tiny label. This bottle also has the secondary seal under the lid which I like for freshness. There is even a cute little Acai berry cartoon character lol. Ok so this is fun looking and info packed. Maybe not edgy or slick but it is different and that makes it stand out. It also makes me smile. Grade B for packaging
Slogan: “Time in a bottle” is right on the bottle and it’s not bad. I mean who does not need more time. I give them a grade of B- for slogan. Not a lot of fun and it reminds me of the song which is kind of sad and slow.
Taste: On the label it claims “# 1 in Taste”. So That is a big claim. I open the bottle and get the scent of a mixed berry shot. Pouring some in a cup it comes out a light maroon color. I take a sip and it has a nice unique mixed berry flavor up front and something towards the finish I just can’t pin down. There is a little bitterness as well. Weird thing is after I finished the berry and ??? taste lingered and actually became more pleasant. The Berry flavor is a more natural berry flavor and not very artificial tasting. Grade B for taste. No it is not # 1 in taste but it is better than your average shot.
Kick/Ingredients: I slammed it on down and waited for a huge rush. It took about 5 to 10 minutes to hit me but it was a smooth ramp up to a super strong buzz. I am almost at a loss for words on how to describe this buzz. It was over the top intense yet somehow there were no jitters or loss of concentration. I was super focused, extremely happy, and speeding like a cheetah on meth. Yet I was calm in my mind. Wow is all I can say. I was going strong for a good 6+ hours easily and I was actually getting worried that I was not going to be able to go to sleep later. I even did stuff at my job that I did not have to. I just wanted to do stuff. The ingredients in this shot are far from the “usual” you see in hundreds of other shots. B vitamins,Caffeine, Glucuronolactone, Tyrosine, yohimbine (from yohimbe bark extract), Naringin, Hoodia gordonii 20:1 extract (aerial parts), glycine, and guggulsterones E & Z (95%), Acai (Euterpe oleracea) berry, goji berry, pomegranate fruit, Yerba Mate, and Tahitian noni. Hell some of this stuff I never heard of but it surely works. It also has no calories, carbs, or sugars and has plenty of antioxidants Grade A+ for kick/ingredients
Web Presence: The website at 8hourshot.com is not bad at all. It looks nice and mainly contains product info. There is a faq, store, about section, Testimonials, and more. Not much there otherwise but what is there is informative and well done. Grade C+ for web presence.
Recap:
Ok so this shot taste pretty good and really really jacks you up strong for a long time. This is easily in the top 5 of the energy shots I have tried in the kick department. I t made me feel like that Family guy episode where Peter fights the rooster. Really it was intense and if you want over the top super long lasting energy you have to go for this one. Lets not forget that little berry guy on the label. It is just so cute.
