Boo Koo Wild Berry Shot
So I dug into my huge backlog (I have about 100 drinks stored away) of drink that I have and came up with a sad note. Boo Koo was a good energy drink company. They made a nice line up of drinks that included multiple flavors as well multiple sizes. There drinks also provided a nice strong kick. Heck they even made drink for other companies like GazZu for Circle K stores. Not sure what did them in. Was it bad business decisions, the name Boo Koo? I don’t know but I know I have a bunch to try so here is one.
Packaging: Not sure this was really a shot since it is 5.75 oz. Heck a lot of full size drinks are 8.4. It is a super cool little can though. I mean it’s a tiny pop top can unlike any I have seen. The graphics are nice and aggressive with some tribal designs in there. They bill it as 2x the power right on the front. I give it a solid B for packaging.
Slogan: “Slam a shot” or “2x the power in one slammable serving” Nothing great but at least it is something. I also don’t think you can slam 5.75 highly carbonated oz very well. I’ll give them a C for slogan
Taste: Popping the top I get a nice sweet mixed berry scent with no harsh medicinal smells at all. I pour some in a cup and it comes out a reddish translucent purple color with a high carbonation. Taking a drink I get a nice blackberry and blueberry flavor that finishes up with a hint of raspberry at the finish. It is sweet but not overly so. It takes several tries to drink it all since it is very carbonated. There is no aftertaste or bitterness that I can taste. Really this is a nice flavor and one of the better mixed berry flavors I have had in quite a while. Grade B+ for taste.
Kick/ingredients. I drank it down like you would a carbonated energy drink. It took only 10 to 15 before the buzz kicked in. I will tell you it really woke me up good. I had a really nice level of energy that was almost equivalent to most 16 oz energy drinks. I did not have the jitters but I was feeling a bit excited. The buzz lasted around 4 hours and really was a nice smooth ride that got me in a great and productive mood. There was a small crash since this is not a sugar free shot. Boo Koo shot contains 180mg of caffeine,1000mg of Taurine, Inositol, Glucuronolactone, and a bunch of B vitamins. There are 19 grams of sugar and 80 calories. I have to say this was a damn good buzz and is probably stronger than what you want for a business meeting or something similar. For social activities or physical work though this would be a great buzz. Grade B+

So this is one I wish had stuck around. It really combined the best of both worlds. It was a miniature energy drink really. It provided all the kick of a full size drink without filling you up too much and tasted better than most non carbonated shots. I think the only thing it missed on was the portability of shots since you would not want to drink this at room temp. If you happen to stumble onto any of these at your local discount store or something I can recommend them for sure. Chances are though that these have gone forever though.
