Let it never be said, the romance is dead
Diet Rubyy Blood Orange energy drink

Ok So I had the original Rubyy a while back and really enjoyed it. At the time I did an interview with Chris Huddleston- the managing partner of Rubyy Energy Drink and learned there would be a diet version this year. It has finally arrived and I have managed to get my hands on a few samples without having to even visit an upscale night club(where they probably would not let me into anyway).
Packaging: Just like the original this Rubyy comes in a super slick aluminum bottle. This time the bottle is a satin white. The graphics are the same except they are silver and really this is one super premium looking package Very minimal text finishes it off making for that top shelf look. I like how on the back the key ingredients are a different color than the rest of the ingredients so they stand out. Great attention to detail. Grade A+ for packaging.
Slogans: “Rubyy, On All Day and Up All night” is right there on the side of the bottle along with a cool little blurb you should check out. Grade A- for slogan.
Taste ect: When I twist off the cap on this bottle I am reminded of one of the thing I like about it. There is a wisp of water vapor due to the coldness of the drink hitting the air and it just scream refreshing to me. It looks very similar to original Rubyy coming out a pale pink/orange color with a light carbonation. I take a sip and it has a nice orange grapefruit flavor. It is a very light and delicate flavor with just a minor amount of sweetness. I can taste the carbonated water with the level of juice taste being on the light side. I love how they have avoided being too sweet like a lot of drinks made with artificial sweeteners. My wife (who hates anything with artificial sweetener in it) tried it and surprisingly said she loved it. That speaks volumes as to the fact that this drink has a very natural taste. I tried it mixed with Vodka and it made for a very nice light mixed drink that looked very good. Grade B for taste.
Kick/Ingredients: After drinking Rubyy I got a nice lift that was on par with most energy drinks. It was a smooth boost with no jitters and no crash. I’d say the buzz lasted a good 3 hours. Diet Rubyy energy ingredients include Taurine, Caffeine, Maltodextrin, Guarana, and a good dose of B vitamins. Then you have 8% juice from Orange juice, Blood orange juice, and tangerine juice. You get this nice smooth buzz with 25 calories, 5 grams of carbs, and 4 grams of sugars. It is sweetened with sucralose. This is a drink you could have several of in a night either alone or mixed. I give it a grade of B- for kick/ingredients. It is not one of your strongest drinks but it is average in kick and above average in ingredients.
Web presence: They have a nice flash site at rubyy.com. There is information about the concept, press, events, a where to find it section, and a mixology section where you can find some nice drink recipes. The site is sleek and sexy like the drinks and bottle. It is a little light on ingredients info and there is no longer a link to buy some online. Grade B- for web presence
Recap:
Ok so Rubyy is really a night club type of drink that makes a great mixer. That said I find it really refreshing as well on a hot day. The bottle keeps it super cold. I really think they should have named it Rubyy Light though instead of Diet Rubyy. Really light fits it all around. It has a nice light taste and feel along with light carbonation and it is light in calories and sugar. Heck while I was drinking it I kept thinking how light and delicate it was. The only thing it is not light in is ingredients. It has as much caffeine as your average 8.4 oz energy drink. I think if your out on the town some night and you see they are serving Rubyy or Diet Rubyy you need to give it a try. You will not only feel good drinking it but you will look good as well.
