Eruption Effervescent Energy

So is 2011 the year of the energy powder? It seems to me it is. I have seen a lot of these types of products coming out this year. I can see why since they are portable for you and easier to distribute for the manufacturer. This time I have an effervescent powder from Eruption. It seems. Will the effervescence help this powder avoid the trip up a lot of powders have as in the fact they don’t dissolve very quickly. Will they avoid the saltiness of some effervescent products?  Most of all will it deliver taste and energy? Eruption is going more for the mixer business as in RB and Vodka market so I will rate it accordingly.

Packaging:  So you have a little square foul packet.  The packet is very easy to open which is a big plus for me. It is a green and black combo and that works very well. The green square with the cool looking E font in it is very nice and I think gives it a personality and an image that a lot of products are missing. There are ingredients listed clearly on the back including caffeine amount Grade B

Slogan: “Kick the Can and Pocket the packet” is on their site and it is pretty good. I like how it is fun to say and gets the message across. B+
Taste: So they promote it to be mixed with any beverage. I tried it straight out of the packet though and it is pretty tasty that way as well. I mostly mixed it with water though. It dissolved super fast and completely leaving me with a bright green bottle of water. It has a nice sweet lime scent. I take a sip and it is a very nice lime flavor. It is like a mix of Gatorade and Mountain Dew. Nice and sweet with some tartness. There is no bitterness, medicinal taste, or saltiness to be found. This stuff goes down smooth mixed with water and is damn refreshing. I tried it in a vodka cocktail (E vodka tall recipe from the Eruption website) and it was killer and dangerous since it is so smooth you will want to drink many. Overall this is one of the most drinkable mixes I have tried. Grade A

Kick/Ingredients: So this stuff is meant to be mixed and probably consumed more than one time in a row. They really push the mixed drink use and I’m cool with that. I get tired of other companies winking and saying not to mix while they sell it to bars. I tried several different uses for Eruption. It is refreshing and gave me a mild boost on a tough day at work. In a mixed drink it delivers as well allowing you to mix several without overdoing the energy portion. Really when you have a RB and Vodka you don’t usually get more than 4 oz of RB and Eruption has an equal amount to that per serving. So medium energy and no crash. 3 hours of it but you can drink several if you want more. Eruption is also great as a recovery drink the next day.  Eruptions energy formula consist of Caffeine (45 mg), 1500 mg Taurine, Ginseng, Ginko Biloba, Inositol, L-Carnitine, Coenzyme Q10, and also has Vitamin C, D, and B vitamins. There is a fair amount of sodium and Potasium which is good on a hot day. Grade B.   It might not have a strong kick but it is made for mixing and recovery so it does a great job for  its intended uses. I found it to be a great sport drink as well.  10 calories and 2 grams of carbs. It is sweetened with stevia.

Web Presence: The site at eruptionusa.com is not a bad site. You have a store, News, Events, drink recipes, and more. They provide some ingredients info as well. They also have a Twitter and a Facebook.  All are up to date as well. Grade A- for web pressence

Recap:

Ok so I had several packets and I drank every one of them. Mixed they were great. In water they made for good recovery and as a sports drink while bike riding. They really are tasty as well and are so portable you can take them to a club or bar with you and add to a drink. For biking or hiking they are easy to bring along also. I think they are one of the more versatile products I have tried. I think you should try them and see for your self. I am sure they will impress you as well.
