Give Energy Lite Tangerine Melon

I am not going to lie to you. I am a big fan of the drinks from Give as they are usually delicious and provide a good kick. I was really excited to see they were coming out with some lite flavors (it is swimsuit season). I was even more excited to see that they went with natural sweeteners.  I was able to talk them into a couple of early samples so lets check this out. Like all Give drinks this is a drink that has a charitable goal much like the drinks from Live. Give promises that 10 cents from every can goes toward sustainable energy like wind and solar.

Packaging: What can I say that I have not said before? Give energy drink cans are like art. The really stand out with their unique windmill design and lightning bolts. These 16 oz cans for their lite drinks are no exception. The colors are a bit muted and this is a great idea for lite drinks. Grade A

Slogans:  “Drink Alternatively. Live Sustainably.”  Goes along with another slogan on the can that reads “Drink Give. Do Good” Sure these don’t scream mad intense energy but they do work well with the charity/green image of Give drinks. Grade B-

Taste ect:  Excitedly I popped the top and poured some in a cup. The drink comes out a light orange color with a nice mild tangerine scent. I take a sip and I get s barely sweet tangerine flavor(not orange but actual tangerine) followed by some melon flavor. The melon flavor is complex and not very sweet. I tried to pin it down but I could not decide if it was watermelon or honeydew. I guess it is kind of a mixed melon. There are also hints of tea and a tiny bit of flavor from the agave syrup. This drink comes off more like a flavored seltzer water or club soda. The sweetness level is very low. The taste actually improves as you consume the drink tasting better the more you drink. I’ll give it a grade of C+ for taste. I think a touch more agave syrup would help. Stevia might be the next big think in sweeteners but I have yet to find a drink with it that actually taste sweet.

Kick/Ingredients:  I drank this at one of my usual critical times. The afternoon slump at work. The day was dragging by and I was just barely moving(so was the clock on the wall).  In 15 or so minutes every thing was all better. I was suddenly very energetic and talkative. I probably annoyed a few people with my excited conversations. I was slightly jittery and in an awesome mood. I always get a good strong kick from Give drinks and this lite version was no different. It was easily in line with the big boys of energy and probably a notch above. I sailed through the last 4 to 5 hours of work in fine fashion with energy to spare.  Give Lite contains the same 810 mg blend per can as the regular Give drinks with caffeine, Gotu kola leaf, Yerba Mate leaf extract, Guarana seed extract, Ginko Biloba leaf extract, and rhodiola rosea root extract. It comes in at 20 calories and 6 grams of carbs. It is sweetened naturally with agave syrup and Stevia. Grade B for kick/ingredients

Web presence:  The website at drinkgive.com is a really super sharp website that much like the can. This site is eye candy for sure but it also contains good info on the company and the products it makes. It might not be the easiest to navigate but figuring it out is fun and the visuals are stunning. Not anything there about the new Lite drinks yet though Very professional! Grade A for web presence.

Recap:

Once again Give impresses. It looks amazing, taste good with unique flavors, and provides a real quality kick. To top it off it is low in calories and carbs while using all natural sweeteners and no artificial ones. It is not a very sweet drink but I enjoy plain club soda myself so that was not a problem to me. I say if you want a healthier option and a great kick this Lite Tangerine melon is worth trying. I can’t wait to try the other lite flavor myself.
