So I kept seeing stuff on the new about these shots. I had only read one review from Addicted to energy so I was curious. I like the idea behind it but would there be more to it than the idea? This company is a big supporter of people in public service like police, firemen, EMS, military personnel, ect. Let’s see if it can deliver
Packaging: Typical 2 oz shot bottle. It has a nice patriotic design on it. It is a tad bit busy but it has a lot of pluses as well. The flavor is clearly listed, and the slogan is front and center. I can see this design being popular with conservative types and that is probably market to try and tap. Grade C+
Slogan: “Fuel for Heroes” is right on the lid and I like it. I mean it fits perfect for this shot and the idea behind it. Grade B+
Taste: I twist of the lid and I get a nice berry scent. The liquid inside is a pale pink color. I take a sip and the flavor is what it said it is. Mixed berry. The mixed berry flavor is fairly nice and not overly sweet. This shot falls in the watery group that a lot of shots fit into. It is not overly sweet but there is a tad bit of bitterness at the end. If you have had a 5 hour energy shot then you know what to expect. Overall I’d give it a grade of C+ for taste.
Kick/Ingredients: So I drank this in the afternoon to get me over the hump. It took the usual amount of time to hit me. It did not hit too hard though. I did get a boost but it was fairly mild. It was not jittery or intense at all. It worked fine to get me through a few hours with no crash though. I’d say I got 3 to 4 hours of mild energy with no crash. Each shot is powered by Caffeine, Taurine, Glucuronolactone, Tyrosine, L- Phenylalanine, Malic Acid, and a big dose of B vitamins. You get that with no calories, carbs, or sugar. Grade C
Web Presence: The site at heroenergyshot.com is ok. Sure it might not have a polished professional look but it does deliver all that it needs to. It has ingredients info, a store, American Heroes(blog), and more. There is a way to order 2 shots as a sample and you only pay shipping. Overall C

Ok so I like the idea and the charity aspect of this shot. Aside from that it is pretty much average across the board. In a market flooded with energy shots it might be a tough sell. Still a more mature market might be drawn to this shot and its theme. I say if you see one and are a fan of 5 hour shots you should give it a try and see what you think.
