If you really want to rip up your mind

Joosed Alcohol energy  Dragon Joose

Ok so having tried Sparks and Tilt I really was not looking forward to trying another alcohol energy drink. Joosed offers some interesting flavors though so I was willing to give them a shot based on that.

Packaging: It is a huge 23.5 oz can!  The can is mostly black with a cool purple dragon encircling the Joose white logo. In several places on the can it makes you aware there is 9.9% alcohol. It does look like a regular energy drink but unless you are a blind parent it would be hard to miss the 9.9% listing and accidently buy this for your kids. The entire dragon and logo is on 2 sides of the can. One thing you will notice is that there is no nutritional info anywhere. It does list the energy ingredients on the front but no amounts, no calorie listing either. It is cool looking but you need to put nutritional info on the can I think. I like to know how many calories I am consuming. Grade C for packaging. Cool looking but I want to know what I am drinking.

Slogan: “Joose it up” is the slogan I found and it fits well. I like it and I will give it a grade of B+

Taste: I was a little scared but then popping the top I got a nice sweet grape soda scent. The liquid is purple and fizzy like a grape soda. Taking a sip you get a real sweet grape candy or soda flavor followed by some malt flavors and then a bit of bitterness. The grape flavor outlast them all though. Overall it is probably the best alcopop have I have tried. Much better than Tilt or Sparks. It is very sweet. Grade B- for taste

Kick/Ingredients: Ok so I drank about half and I was feeling pretty good. I was alert and relaxed all at the same time. I finished it off(23 oz is a lot) and I was pretty much tipsy with a little slurring in my speech. I still did not feel sleepy though. I really had some swagger at this point lol. I was feeling no pain for sure. I had 2 cans but there was no way I could have drank the second one. It was too sweet and too strong alcohol wise. 9.9 % is pretty strong drink. It’s like drinking 23 oz of wine (ok it is a little weaker but much stronger than your average beer for sure). I’d say the energy lasted a couple of hours and so did my swagger. So what’s in this stuff? A lot of malt beverage and some caffeine, ginseng, and Taurine. No word on calories or carbs and sugars. I heard everything from 900 to 320 calories. No official data was available on the can or the website.
Grade D for kick/ingredients. Maybe the kick was strong but with the potent alcohol it was hard to tell. I believe there a a lot of calories in this for sure.

Web Presence: They have a site at drinkjoose.com. It is a decent flash site but very hard to stomach. There is music, fans, store, products, contest and more. The product section gives you almost no info and has this super annoying strobe flash going on that just hurts your eyes. Really it is a pro job buy just not a good design color wise. Damn those strobes killed me. Grade D

Recap:

Well if you want to drink an alcoholic energy drink this is probably your best choice. The taste is not as bad as most, the alcohol content is very high, and the energy is ok. It is loaded with calories and carbs for sure though so it is hard on the waistline. It was good enough that I will be trying the other flavors though. At about 2.50 a can it is a value as far as the drunk to dollar ratio goes. So if you want to get your swagger on then grab a Dragon Joose as long as you are of age of course.
