Spider Lighter spider sugar free

Ok so I really enjoyed the original Spider energy drink a while back. It was potent and delicious and was set to take on the mainstream market dominated by the like of Monster, Red Bull, and Rockstar. The only thing missing was a sugar free version. Lots of peole are watching their sugar intake now days so you need to provide that option to gain in the energy drink market. Then along came a Lighter Spider
Packaging: The Lighter Spider can is just as awesome as the original. The colors are lighter to denote it as sugar free but the graphics and fonts are just as aggressive and cool. I like how the sugar free is printed clearly on the front. Sometimes people don’t make it obvious that a drink is sugar free and that is a mistake I think. Lighter Spider does not make that mistake. Great can. Grade B+
Slogan: “Get Bit Stay Fit” is clearly there on the can. I like how it is almost identical to the original Spider slogan and yet lets you know it is a sugar free drink. Cool drink specific slogan. Grade A
Taste: I open the can with a pssst and get a nice natural orange scent. Pouring it in a cup it comes out an orangish yellow. I take a sip and I get a not overly sweet orange flavor with a hint on citrus at the finish. This drink has a lot of carbonation. It is one of those sugar free drinks that does not overdo it on the artificial sweetener. They seem to have it at just the right level so the orange has a more natural taste to it. There is no bitterness or after taste to speak of. I think they nailed the sugar free version of Spider pretty well here. Grade B
Kick/Ingredients: Well after drinking downing this Lighter Spider it hit me pretty quick. This is no brown recluse that sneaks up on you this is more like a Brazilian wandering spider in that it is fast and deadly. I was jacked up good and had the jitters to prove it. It is rare when a sugar free drink gives me any jitters. I was bouncing all over the place and in a great and talkative mood. The rest of my afternoon seemed to fly by. I got a solid 4 hours of energy and there was no crash at the end. The line up of ingredients is typical but it is a potent one consisting of the following per can. Caffeine 240 mg, Taurine 2000 mg, Ginseng 200 mg, Guarana 200 mg, L-Carnitine, L-Glutamine, and B vitamins in the 200 to 500 % DV range (higher than most). You get this with 0 calories and 0 grams of sugar and carbs. It is sweetened sucralose and Ace K. Grade B for kick/ingredients
Web Presence: Spider energy has really sunk it’s fangs into web presence with to options. They have spiderenergy.com which is looking pretty good with product info, a store, a cool bartending video set, and more. Then they have getbitstaylit.com which is their blog. To top that off they have Myspace, and Twitter wrapped up. I’m giving them a grade of B
Recap:
Like I said about the original Spider. This one can hold it’s on against the big boys. It comes in a cool aggressive can, offers a great taste, and delivers a more potent caffeine kick. If you see this in the cooler next to a Monster or a Rockstar you would be well served grabbing the Lighter Spider instead. Give it a try and let me know what you think.
