Well I drove down south to heaven

Monster Dub edition

Wooo! Man I love getting my hands on a new drink from Monster. It’s not that Monster is my favorite brand or anything but I know everyone wants to know all about the latest from Monster. I love to be the first to bring you guys a review of such a big release. Monster fans are very passionate about their favorite brand. I spend a lot of time and effort tracking down these drinks so I can bring em to you first. So lets get to it!

Packaging: Monster never really lets me down with its packaging. They are innovative and really bring it in this area. This time they are introducing a 32 oz Battery style can. I say battery style but really it is a little different with the top being a little flatter than the 24 oz battery style cans out there. It is supposed to be an oil type can in line with the automotive theme of the drink. The shape and the color along with all the bling type graphics make for a really pimped out package. Throw in the large size which makes me think of 24 inch rims and you got extreme all around.  Grade A

Slogan: I found this on the can “its high performance fuel for the true baller”  and you gotta love how that goes with the drinks theme. Grade A

Taste: Peeling of the plastic and twisting off the lid with a pop I get a nice sweet grape soda mixed with some classic energy drink scent. I pour some in a cup and it comes out the richest deepest purple I have seen in a drink. It’s purple and yet at the edges it is red. The word Lush comes to mind when I see the drink. Taking a sip it’s a mixture of sweet grape soda and green monster. You get some purple grape up front followed by the classic flavor of white grape and apple. The aftertaste lingers around leaving the sweet grape taste that is very nice. The carbonation is on the low side and the sweetness is spot on. I’ll give it a grade of B for taste.  Nice job. I like the combo of grape and classic energy.

Kick/Ingredients: This is a huge can with four servings. I drank probably about 3 servings or so and let me tell you I was destroyed. I was a babbling ball of pure energy. I was somewhat jittery and just all over the place. You want extreme energy this drink bludgeons you with it then before you can recover bust a cap in your head(holding the gun sideways) to finish you off. I was easily wired for a solid 4 hours and since I had some left I maintained the buzz at a lower level for another 4 by sipping what was left. Sure there was some crash but nothing spectacular.  They use the usual monster energy blend. Per can you get 320 mg Caffeine, 4000 mg Taurine, 800 mg Ginseng, Guarana, Inositol, Glucuronolactone, L-Carnitine , and B vitamins at the 400% level. Then to kick it up a notch above your usual Monster you have Green tea and Yerba Mate. You get this with 440 calories, 112 grams of sugars and carbs. It is sweetened with sugar, glucose, and sucralose. I give it a grade of A- for kick/ingredients.

Web Presence: No need to go through this again. Monster always provides an awesome web presence with a website that is jam packed with tons of stuff to explore for hours. I can only imagine how many people it takes to maintain and run this internet juggernaut. It might be a bit light on ingredients info but it is hard to beat for entertainment. Grade A- for web presence.

Recap:

Ok I am more of a fan of the little guy out there. It is hard to deny though that Monster Dub delivers in a huge way. It is awesome to behold the packaging, taste pretty damn good, and depending on how much you drink it will blow your freekin mind. Is it healthy? No I don’t think so. Do you care? I’m guessing not. It’s no worse for you than drinking 32 oz of your favorite sugar filled soda. I can say for sure that if you see this bad boy in the cooler at your local energy drink outlet you will want one. Go on and grab it you know you want to. Don’t be scared by how big it is. I won’t tell anyone.
