Just do your best, darling
Monster Absolutely Zero

Once again there is excitement in the air. Monster is coming out with new stuff. Monster continues to add new drink to their line up. Being one of the big dogs in the energy drink arena there is always anticipation to see what they will bring. So after visiting multiple stores for several weeks I finally found this new drink.
Packaging: Right off I have to say this can looks great and stands out amongst all the other Monster drinks while still being easily identified as a Monster drink. Kind of the best of both worlds. For a zero sugar and carb drink it looks pretty aggressive. I’m going to give this one a grade of A-
Slogan: I found this on the can in the little paragraph on the back “Zero calories, Zero sugar, Killer Buzz” Great job on this slogan. Grade A
Taste: So I pop the top and right away I know it is your typical energy drink right away. I pour some in a cup and it comes out a caramel color with a light to medium carbonation. Taking a sip it is very similar to green Monster. It really is close even in how thick and gummy it is. It is like it has HFC in it. It’s apple, pear, and candy all the way and it seems less citrusy though. For me it is a little too thick and gummy. There are better options for sugar free drinks out there. Grade C- for taste
Kick/Ingredients: So I found this can late at night and I had to wait to drink it. I drank it as soon as I woke up the next morning. It was not the easiest to drink but I drank it down pretty quick to get off to a good start. In the usual 15 minutes I was awake. I was not jittery at all but then again I was not that energized. Don’t get me wrong the buzz was there but it was just average. I got a good 3 to 4 hours of solid average energy with no crash at the end. The say they retooled their energy blend. So here is what you get. The blend is 2600 mg per can and includes Taurine, Ginseng, Guarana, Inositol, Glucuronolactone, L-Carnitine , Matlodextrin, and B vitamins at the 200% level. There is also caffeine listed in the ingredients but not in the energy blend? I’m guessing it is at the usual 160 mg level but I’m not sure. You get this with 0 calories and sugar and 2 grams of carbs. It is sweetened with ace k and Erythritoll. I’ll give it a grade of C
Web Presence: No need to go through this again. The site is at monsterenergy.com and if you like extreme sports, hot chicks, and tons of multimedia they deliver in spades. They also provide some product info. One of the best out there. Grade A- for web presence.
Recap:
So after all that looking I feel a bit let down. New energy blend formula? Well they left out the glucose but they had to in order to be sugar free otherwise nothing new. I have to tell you though if you are a fan of the green Monster you will probably like this. It does not taste at all like a sugar free drink and they did the best job of mimicking a full sugar drink I have come across. The flavor is what was expected yet somehow more gummy than a full sugar drink. The kick was average but good. All that said I have to recommend you seek out another sugar free energy drink unless you are just one of those Monster fan boys who only drinks Monster.
