Monster Import Light

So here we have the second new Monster drink I picked up this week. Monster import light. Earlier I tried the Monster Absolutely Zero and was not impressed. I have higher hopes for this Import light though. I have tried the regular Import and never reviewed it because it was so similar to regular Monster to me. Let’s see how this Light version is.
Packaging: Ok so this 18 oz can is pretty damn sweet. It has the cool shield logo on the front and the light blue with the black and silver just really pops. This is one awesome looking can. Now as for the fancy lid I could really care less. I rather have a screw off top on a large can. One last thing is that this drink is actually made in the USA so really it is not an Import and less you happen to be in another country. Still I like it a lot. Grade A
Slogan: I found this on the can in the little paragraph on the back “Import Light it’ll do you right” Not so good. Kinda cheesy and not very aggressive. It just does not fit with the can at all. Grade C+
Taste: So I figure out how to open the top and pour some in a cup. It comes out a caramel brown with a medium carbonation. I take a sip and it is a nice green monster flavor. It got the whole apple grape candy thing going with a hint of citrus to make it tart at the finish. It’s not gummy and there is no bitterness or after taste. This taste is much better than the Absolutely Zero which was gummy and did not have the citrus to make it tart. The level of carbonation seems better with this one as well. I actually did a side by side with Monster lo carb and this Import light was thicker and more tart. I’ll give it a solid B for taste. Very drinkable and I’d take it over regular Green monster or Monster lo carb any day.
Kick/Ingredients: I drank this down around midnight while on my first night shift. Before it was finished I was pretty wired up. I was talking like crazy before I knew it and was on the edge of jittery. This was a good solid buzz that was a notch above average and lasted me a good 4 hours with no crash. I think the fact that it is 18 oz deliver a the right amount of buzz and I wish they would just up all their 16 oz drinks to the level of ingredients found in this 18 oz drink. They use the usual monster energy blend. Per can you get 184 mg Caffeine, 2300 mg Taurine, 460 mg Ginseng, Guarana, Inositol, Glucuronolactone, L-Carnitine , and B vitamins at the 200% level. You get all this with 57 calories and 13.8 grams of carbs and sugars. It is sweetened with Ace k and Sucralose as well as some glucose and sucrose. Grade B for kick/ingredients
Web Presence: No need to go through this again. The site is at monsterenergy.com and if you like extreme sports, hot chicks, and tons of multimedia they deliver in spades. They also provide some product info. One of the best out there. Grade A- for web presence.
Recap:
Well after the let down from the Absolutely Zero Monster has redeemed itself with this Import Light. It delivers a really nice taste in an awesome can with a good kick. I think this drink is really the best of both worlds with some sugar and still low calories and carbs. This allows it to taste like a regular drink and yet be somewhat healthy. I’m going to recommend that when you see a can you pick one up. It may not be a real import but it is a drink I think you will enjoy while staying awake and alert. I really appreciate the fact that Monster brings out new drinks on a regular basis. I think maybe Red Bull should look at how successful this is and maybe expand their line of drinks some.
