The protein summer
Monster Rehab Protean

Onward to the last of the new Rehab flavors. This one is quite a bit different being that it is a protein energy tea. I have had several protein energy drinks so I am curious if monster can pull it off. Protein drinks are a little outside of the box for an energy drink company but Monster is a company I think has the balls and the know how to get it done.
PackagingSame can as the others except it is a light blue color. Not sure why they went with the light blue color for the Protean drink. Makes it less manly to me and I would think a protein drink would be aimed at a more masculine market. Still it is sharp as always. Grade A-
Slogans: I found 2 slogans. “Rehab the Beast!” and also “Re-Fresh, Re-Hydrate, Re-Store” I like both but the second one is better overall. I appreciate the effort they put into slogans and make them drink specific. Grade. A-
Taste ect: So popping the top on this one I get strange floral type scent. Pouring some in a cup it comes out a thick no carbonated liquid with a light green tea color. I take a sip and I get some tea as well as some protein taste(think yogurt) and a hint of fruit. Really it is pretty unpleasant and like reader Josh pointed out to me it was like drinking cologne! I think he nailed it with the scent and not very pleasant taste. I had a hard time getting this one down. In the end I think I can get my protein and energy in a better tasting form elsewhere. Grade D
Kick/Ingredients: As for energy it really delivered well. I drank this can quick because it tasted pretty bad. It hit me very hard in 15 minutes. I went on a tear at work plowing through my usual work and then some. I really think the energy in this one was a tad better than the other Monster Rehab drinks for some reason. I had a bit of jitters but in the end little to no crash. I got a good 4 to 5 hours of strong energy. If you can stomach the flavor then the energy is delivered by .170 mg caffeine, glucose, white tea extract, black tea extract, concentrated coconut water, , Yerba Mate, Quercetin, Guarana, Inositol, Glucuronolactone, L-Carnitine, Acai extract, Goji Berry extract, and prickly pear extract. Then besides the blend you have Taurine, Ginseng, some B vitamins, and 15 grams of Whey Protein. You get all that with 100 calories and 10 grams of carbs and 8 grams of sugars. It is sweetened with sucralose ,Ace K and Sugar. Yes it has sugar in it. I give it a solid A- for kick/ingredients.
Web presence: monsterenergy.com is one of the top 3 energy drink sites out there. Tons to do so if you have not you should check it out. A-
Recap:
Ok so of all the Rehab flavors I think this one had the best energy but by far the worst taste. I suggest you give it a try if you are interested because personally I don’t think it will be around a long time. Of course I could be wrong but from what I have heard from others they agree that is does not taste very good.
