I'm just burning doin' the neutron dance

Neutron Sugar free Citrus

So I was sauntering through the aisles at my local BigLots the other day.  If you don’t know BigLots is a discount store that often has great prices on a lot of stuff including groceries. To make it even better it is a clearing house for energy drinks. Could be they are discontinued or maybe just the can has been redesigned and the old version is being cleared out. Either way you can often get drinks for 50 or 60 cents a can(also energy shots). I was surprised to see a new energy drink there that I had never heard of.  Neutron energy in 3 versions. Here is my review of the sugar free one.

Packaging:  Ok so wow is all I can say. What year is this? 1970? This 16 oz can will definitely catch your eye. Like a train wreck it is hard to not notice it. Juvenile, garish, gaudy? That and more. No adult or teen would be caught dead with this can. Only redeeming thing here is that caffeine content is clearly listed on the back. D-

Slogan: “The Lift you Need” is on the can and it is ok. Neither here nor there. It works in a very utilitarian way. Grade C

Taste: So I opened the can and was greeted by a nice citrus scent with hints of orange. I pour some in a glass and it comes out a medium orange color with a medium orange color. Taking a sip it is citrus followed by orange and at the finish a hint of classic energy drink flavor comes through. It is kind of creamy at the end really and a bit dry. No Bitterness or aftertaste.  Very unique flavor and quite good I think Grade B for taste.

Kick/Ingredients: So I drank it down and it got me going in the usual 15 minutes. It was a nic middle of the road buzz. I was not jittery but I was wide awake and alert. I’d put this on par with an Amp or a 16 oz Red Bull. I got a good 3 to 4 hours with no crash. Each 16oz can is powered by 180mg caffeine, 2000 mg Taurine, 20 mg Guarana, 200 mg Inositol,  and good doses of.  You get all that with 10 calories and 0 grams of carbs and sugar. It is sweetened with sucralose and ace k Ill give them a grade of C+ for kick/ingredients

Web Presence:  Pretty much nothing I could find anywhere on this drink or it’s manufacturer RNR Beverage co.   Grade F

Recap:

So this was a lot better than I would have thought based on looks. If it tasted like it looked I don't think I could have finished it. instead it has this really unique citrus/classic energy drink flavor, a good dose of caffeine, and comes at a bargain price(60 cents at BigLots). If you find it I say it is worth trying. Let me know what you think if your try it.
