There's only so much sorrow a man can take
Playboy Sugar free

Ok so I been looking for this one a while and finally bit the bullet and bought me one off of Ebay. I really liked the can and was curious if it would be a good drink. Playboy is known for quality so I have high hopes.
Packaging: For some reason I was really attracted to the Blue Bunny image. I have to regular gold can but this sugar free one really stands out more with the blue on black. Over all it is very sharp and classy looking. Not sure if I like the words all over the can because it takes away some of the sleekness though. Still I give in a solid A- for packaging. Iconic logo and really a classy design.
Slogan: I really did not find one to speak of. There is a bunch of words on the can but no slogan. I mean really how about “We put the double D in energy” or something like that? Or how about “Keep it up like Hef!” Lol Grade F
Taste: So popping the top I am a little excited like a kid finding his dads stash of Playboy magazines (hey when I was a kid we did not have the internet!). It is the unknown but you know it is something to be excited about. I pour some in a glass and it comes out a golden yellow liquid with a medium level of carbonation. I take a sip and I am disappointed right off. It comes across as a sugar free RB clone with a hint of sour citrus at the finish. It is sweet and very gummy and artificial. The citrus is very sour and just does not fit in well. Really this is pretty nasty tasting stuff. I like sugar free drink but this one is just done wrong. Really most store brand knock offs of RB are way above this effort. Grade D- for taste.
Kick/Ingredients: I drank it on down quickly because this is not a drink I want to savor. I waited and waited but really never got a good buzz going. I got a mild boost like from a 7-11 coffee(the small one) and that is about it. It did not last more than a couple of hours. This drink has some interesting ingredients that should provide other effects as well but they really never came through either. Here is what’s in this drink. Caffeine, Taurine, Ginseng, Guarana, Glucuronolactone, L-Carnitine, Inositol, Horny Goat Weed, Schisandra, Damiana, and a fair amount of B vitamins. There are 5 calories and 2 grams of carbs. It is sweetened with Sucralose. Grade D for kick/ingredients
Web Presence: The site at playboyenergy.com is only good if you want to see playboy bunnies. Sure the site looks fine and all but really offers no info about the drink. The only thing really there is a link to buy the drinks. Otherwise you might as well visit playboy.com if you want to see this kind of material. This site fails as far as energy drinks. Grade F
Recap:
Wow talk about a let down. It’s like finding a stash of naked pictures in your big brothers room and then realizing they are all of your mom! I expected at least a good RB clone but the taste was sub par. The kick was weak but with the Damiana leaf I expected a sense of well being at least. I got neither kick or mood enhancement. I think the fact it was only sweetened with sucralose alone added to the bad taste. I think sucralose works best when mixed with other sweeteners. I say skip this drink unless you want to collect the cool can. I really hate it when a big company tries to jump in the market like this. Why not just get Boston America to make and market your drink as a joke.
