I’ve Got The Power

Redline Power Rush Wild Grape

Long before I started reviewing energy drinks I had tried Redline energy drinks. I think it is one of the reasons I started my energy drink website.  I have just recently discovered Redline Power Rush shots. Imagine the power of Redline in 2.5 oz bottle.

Packaging:  Redline Power Rush Wild Grape comes in a 2.5 oz plastic bottle. The bottle is the typical shape but is fatter and taller since it is .5 ounces larger than most. The plastic bottle is shrink wrapped in a dark blue label. Under the lid it is foil sealed which always earns points with me since it keeps it fresh and safe. On the lid is an image of a bunch of grapes along with the flavor “Wild Grape” in a white font. On the top of the bottle it reads in yellow “Contains 2 servings”. Next is the name in a white font outlined in red followed by a red oval that has “7-Hour energy boost” in white font. Finally you have a bullet list of key facts about the shot and another image of a bunch of grapes. On the back is a caution statement and supplement facts. There are several things I like about this label. I like the grape image because it looks appetizing and I like that it tells you it contains 2 servings right on the front so you know before you drink it. Grade B+ for packaging.

Slogan:  I guess “7 Hour energy Boost” qualifies as a slogan. I think that works pretty well. Not exciting but it get the message out there that this is long lasting. Grade B- for slogan. Really I see a lot of possibilities for a killer slogan here.

Taste: I open the lid and remove the foil seal. I take a sniff and it smells like a sweet grape soda. I pour some in a shot glass and I am surprised it comes out a light translucent brown color. I was expecting purple or maybe clear. I take a sip and it is a nice sweet grape candy flavor like maybe a grape jolly rancher with a little of the citric acid tartness at the finish. There is really no bitterness or vitamin taste and only a slight bit of the artificial sweetener aftertaste. Really I have to say I am surprised at how good it taste with the high level of caffeine it contains. It taste better than a lot of shots that have less ingredients. Grade B+ for taste

Kick/Ingredients:  Well this is where Redline rules usually. Power! I drank the entire shot even though it is supposed to be 2 servings. I figure most 16 oz energy drinks are 2 servings but really who only drink half of one? Let’s not forget I am the edjunkie! Anyway in about 15 minutes I was more alert and in 20 I was full on rockin. I had loads of energy but surprisingly I was not as jittery as I would of expected?  I was able to get in a bike ride as well as some other exercises in addition to doing some shores around the house, running errands, and more. Really it lasted me close to the advertised 7-hours and at the end of the day there was no crash. I was like the energizer bunny with power that last and last. Key ingredients are 326 mg caffeine, N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine, Beta Alanine, DL-Phenylalanine, L-Phenylalanine, Plenty of B vitamins and also 100% of your vitamin C. Not your typical energy ingredients.  Grade A for kick. This is definitely one of the top 3 shots available on the market.

Web Presence: So far Redline Power Rush has scored well in the top in most all categories. They do well with their website at redlinerush.com. They have plenty of information on products and ingredients, Testimonials, Videos, A FAQ, and a where to buy section. It’s a cool looking flash based site that will appeal to the consumer who would be buying Redline Rush. Grade B+ for web presence. They also have a Myspace.

Recap:

This was my first Redline Rush shot but I can promise it won’t be my last. It had good packaging, great taste, and massive kick. They have a good website as well so this has to be one of the better shots you can get. Maybe this is not for the 5 hour energy crowd. This is for the energy junkies like me along with the students, shift workers, body builders, extreme athletes, and those who want a huge boost. Even if you’re in the 5 hour energy crowd you will find that splitting this into 2 servings will be a great value. No matter who you are it is hard to go wrong with Redline  Power Rush.
