Relentless (USA version)
Well those overseas have had this drink for quite a while. It seems now it has made the trip to the USA. I’m Glad since I have heard good things about this drink. Can it break into the US market? Let’s see how it is.
Packaging: It’s in a 16 oz can. The can is a brown color with white gothic lettering. In the background is an image of a human form that shows the muscle fibers like in that Bodies show. I think it looks pretty different as far as coloring goes which will make it stand out I the cooler. I also think it will appeal to those who like MMA type tshirts with it’s lettering. Grade B-
Slogan: “No Half Measures” is on the can and I like it. It is unique and I think it really works well for an energy drink especially this one. Grade B+
Taste: So I pop the top and I get the classic energy drink scent. It is a little different though with a hint of vanilla. I pour some in a glass and it comes out a light caramel color with a medium high carbonation. I take a sip and it has that classic energy drink taste but then at the finish is has more of a citrus flavor than your typical energy drink. It is tart and really has a flavor I have a hard time pinning down. I am baffled. On 1 hand it is classic and on the other it is totally unique. This is no RB clone. There is no bitterness of aftertaste. Quite enjoyable to drink. I’ll give it a solid B for taste
Kick/Ingredients: So I drank the whole can and it took the typical 15 minutes for it to hit me. I got a nice burst of slightly jittery full sugar energy. This was a good strong buzz like you would expect from a mainstream 16 oz energy drink. I was buzzing along pretty good at work, cranking up some music and just feeling good while tearing through all the work I needed to get done. The buzz got me through a good 4 hours of work before a minor sugar crash at the end. Relentless if powered by 197 mg caffeine, 1888 mg Taurine, Guarana, Inositol, Yerba Mate , and a fair dose of B vitamins. It comes in at 220 calories, and 51 grams of carbs and sugar. It is sweetened with sugar. I’ll give it a grade of B-
Web Presence: The site for the USA version is at drinkrelentless.com. It’s not a bad site but is still kind of new. You will find some product info, videos, gallery, events, and more. They also have a Twitter and a Facebook. I can see this site getting better as this drink is rolled out here. Grade C+
Recap:
Ok so I really enjoyed this drink. It has such a unique taste that it is one you need to try. Then again it tastes a lot like what you’re used to. The buzz it delivers is right on par as well. It’s not ground breaking or anything but it delivers the energy you need and expect from a major energy drink company. Keep an eye out for this and grab you one if you see it.
