And you can't break our code of energy

Rip It Energy shot  Code Blue

So I am strolling (yes I like to stroll) through my local Dollar tree the other day and out of the corner of my eye I caught sight of a bunch of energy shots. My Dollar tree usually has crap for energy drinks and shots but I noticed one of the shots was a Rip it shot. I made a bee-line across the store knocking over old ladies and errant toddlers in my haste to check it out.  Let’s see if it was worth their pain and humiliation and the dollar it cost me.

Packaging: These little bottles look pretty sharp. It is your typical 2 oz shot bottle in a nice blue label with a black lid. The overall design is very similar to their drinks with the big X in the center and the same fonts. Somehow it looks even bolder and eye catching than their cans do. It might be a tad busy but it really looks nice. Caffeine content is clearly listed on the back. Grade B

Slogan: “Raw Sustained energy” is printed on the lid portion (in an aggressive font”. Somehow it just does not fit. I think it is a bit aggressive for this shot especially with the little cute berries on the front label. Grade C

Taste: So I twist of the lid and I get a nice raspberry scent. I pour the shot in a cup and it comes out a purple color. I take a sip and starts of with some blueberry followed by a hint of raspberry. The finish is watery and yet dry. It is not overly sweet and does not leave you thirsty. I have to say they did a fine job with the flavoring with no bitterness or aftertaste. Grade B+ for taste

Kick/Ingredients: So this shot went down smooth and fast. It hit me in the typical 15 minutes. I got a nice little burst of energy. It was not a huge burst but my eyelids were no longer drooping and I found myself in much better spirits than I had been. I was drumming on my desk and actually enjoying being at work. There were no jitters and I had a nice mild energy level like this for 2 o 3 hours with no crash. Each shot is powered by 100 mg caffeine, 100 mg Taurine, 20 mg L-Glutamine, 20 mg Glucuronolactone, and big doses of B6 and B12. It comes with I assume no calories or carbs. I assume because no nutrition info is listed for calories, sugar, or carbs. I know it is sugar free and is sweetened with Sucralose and Ace K. Grade C for kick/ingredients

Web Presence: The site at ripitenergy.com. Is well laid out and has some good ingredients info. There are sections, for Team Rip it, Wild Ride Tour, a store locator, and more.  Overall not bad for a bargain drink. Grade B

Recap:

So this shot is very tasty. Then again is does not contain a large amount of ingredients that need masking. You will get a nice short buzz with no jitters but is won’t last a long time. On the plus side though it is only a buck so you can buy 2 or 3 for the price of some other energy shots. Only need a few hours of energy buy one. Need 6 hours buy 2.  I’d say it is a great value for sure. Now don’t go trying to run over non senior citizens or Tweens while on this shot because it is not that strong. Old ladies and toddlers though should be no problem though.     Disclaimer: No old ladies or toddlers were actually harmed in this review.
