Rockstar Pink
So I was less than impressed with the new Rockstar 2x. It provided a good kick but I could not stomach the flavor at all. So I am hoping they redeem themselves with the Rockstar pink. Sure it is aimed at women but it does have 120 mg of caffeine so I figure it is fair game for anyone.
Packaging: It comes in a 12 oz slim pink can can. It looks like a Rockstar drink still though with the black top and the fonts ect. The straw is a great idea. Most women I know drink sodas with a straw to either avoid messing up their lipstick or avoid staining their teeth. For a pink colored can it is one of the less feminine looking ones I have seen. Grade A-
Slogans: Really I am tired of falling back on the “Party Like A Rockstar: slogan that I can only find on myspace. This gender specific drink would have been a good place to bring something new to the table. Grade C-
Taste: So I popped the top and got a nice mild berry scent. The liquid inside is a translucent pink color with a medium carbonation. I took off the juice box like straw and stuck it in the can for the full effect. I took a sip with some trepidation. Surprisingly it tastes pretty damn good. It is like a sprite or 7up but it has some strawberry mixed in. The taste is fairly light and the artificial sweetener is not overdone like in the Rockstar 2x. There was no bitterness or aftertaste. I really enjoyed it and will probably drink it again. Grade B+
Kick/Ingredients: Well I had this in the morning instead of my usual cup of coffee. It took the usually 15 minutes or so but it woke me up good. It was not jittery but it was a notch above average and my day started off with plenty of energy. I was out the door and taking care of business earlier than usual and the buzz lasted me a good 3.5 to 4 hours with no crash. Each 12 oz can is powered by 120mg caffeine, 1000 mg Taurine, 100 mg of Ginseng, and 100% dv dose of B vitamins. There is also 2% of your dv for calcium. You get this with 10 calories and no carbs or sugar. It is sweetened with Ace K and Sucralose. Grade B-
Web presence: Once again I say go to rockstar69.com. I don’t think there is a better energy drink site on the net. They also have a Facebook and a Twitter. Grade A+

Ok so surely the same people did not make this great tasting drink that made the nasty. Aside from the pink can this is a drink any guy might enjoy as well as any woman. The nice light refreshing taste and the above average kick make this drink a winner. Heck even without the free straw it is a winner. Give it a try and let me know what you think.
