Stacker 2 Xtra

Ok so a reader emailed me the other day and ask about these shots. Seems Stacker has a media blitz going on at the moment for these bargain shots. I got mine at the Dollar Tree store. Got to admit for a buck it is a great value. The question is though are they any good. That’s why I am here.

Packaging:  Typical 2 oz shot bottle. They have colors to indicate the flavors. Fairly aggressive looking. Maybe a little busy but I think it works overall. Caffeine amount hidden in the “energy blend”  Grade C

Slogan: Sadly I could find nothing at all. Grade F
Taste:

• Juicy Grape: Ok so opening this shot there is a really nice grape soda scent. The shot itself is translucent purple. I take a sip and it is just as it smells. It is a really good fake grape. Like a grape Jolly Rancher. Really is taste great and there is no bitterness or medicinal taste at all. One of the better grape flavors I have tasted. Grade B+
• Sweet Berry: So on this one I get the scent of strawberry and the color of the liquid is pink. Taking a sip it is your typical mixed berry flavor. It is done right though and has no bitterness or after taste. Not too sweet either. Nothing special but really not bad. Grade C+

Kick/Ingredients: So I tried these 2 shots on different days at work. It took the usual time to hit me and it actually woke me up pretty good. I would put this on par with 5 hour regular strength as far as kick goes. I had a good level of energy but no jitters. It went strong for a good 3 hours and then tapered off some. I would say there was 4 hours of overall energy with no crash at the end. Each shot is powered byCaffeine(cup of coffee worth) Glucuronolactone, N Acetyl L Tyrosine, L-phenylalanine,, Taurine, malic acid, and a big dose of B vitamins. They also have the enzyme blend of Amylase, Protease, Lipase, Cellulase, and Lactas which I am a fan of. You get this with 0 calories or carbs. It is sweetened with sucralose. Grade B-  

Web Presence: The site at stacker2.com is cheesy to the max. You have a cheesy flash intro and then a really awful way to navigate to find what you want. They do have a store though where you can buy a 12 pack of these for 9.99!  Don’t know about the shipping cost though sine you have to give you card info before you get to that point. I’ll give them a C-

Ok so these are pretty good tasting and actually do deliver a decent amount of kick. Add to that the fact that they are only a buck and I think you have a winner. You can get 2 for the price of  1 five hour energy shot. The ingredients are almost identical. I have to say if you are a fan of 5 hour and on a budget then this is really the way to go. Heck even if you’re not on a budget why spend more than you have too. To top it off I think these are better tasting. Give them a try and let me know what you think.
