Jesus Juice

Todopoderoso (Almighty)

Ok so this one really caught my eye with all the text in Spanish and it’s unique package graphics. This is one of those rare finds for an collector like me. I am hoping it taste good and performs well also.

Packaging:   Typical 8.4 oz slim can. The can is shrink wrapped in dark purplish blue with some hard to see graphics. If you look close though you will see an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe takes up most of the label and then on one side is a heart image with a crown of thorns around it. I think this is aimed at Hispanic Catholics?  That would be a unique niche market that probably has not been addressed by other energy drink companies. If the images where brighter an you could see them better this might be a good package. I give it a grade of D for packaging. It’s kind of spooky and really Our lady of Guadalupe just doesn’t say energy to me.

Slogan:  “The power makes the difference” is on the website so I’ll go with that one. It is unique and I’m not sure if they are talking the power of the drink or the power of God.  Grade C for slogan

Taste: So opening it up I get the expected RB clone smell. Pouring some in a cup it comes out a golden yellow with a low level of carbonation. Taking a sip it is a mixture of white grape, apple, and candy. It is less sweet than most RB clones and is not gummy at all. There is no aftertaste. Really it’s not bad but it’s nothing special either. Grade C for taste
Kick/Ingredients:  I had this with breakfast tacos from my favorite taqueria(seemed appropriate). I was pretty tired and needed a boost to get me going. In 15 or so minutes I felt my eyelids lift some and I was alert. It was pretty much on par with a 12 oz mug of coffee. The low buzz lasted only about 2 hours and there was no crash.  Ingredients are Taurine, caffeine, Glucuronolactone, Inositol, some of B Vitamins and 100% of your dv for vitamin C. It comes in at 120 calories and 28 grams of carbs. It is sweetened with HFCS. I give it a D+ for kick/ingredients.

Web Presence: There is a site at mitodopoderoso.com but it looks pretty cheesy. On the front there is this goalie diving into the sky catching a can of Todopoderoso that is obviously photoshopped. You have to see it really. There is a little info about the drink but very little. Check it out just for fun. It won’t take more than a minute. Grade D+ for web presence.
Recap:

Ok so maybe expecting to get the power of god from an energy drink was a little much.  I could not even produce a burning bush and I did not even attempt turning anyone into a pillar of salt (although I do have a list of people for this). I think they need to go back to the drawing board for this one and change a lot of things. Ok change pretty much everything. It did not taste bad but it provided a weak kick and the label was just too dark to really see the graphics. I also found it weird that a drink with these images on it also tries to go with sports on the website. It seems a little confused as to what it is trying to be. It does make a really nice addition to my can collection though.
