U Force Blue Pomegranate
So Valero has a really nice line up of store brand energy drinks. There are like 5 flavors and I appreciate the effort. Instead of just going with a RB or Monster clone the actually went with some unique flavors. This will be the second one of their drinks I have reviewed and I hope it is a tasty as the other one I tried.
Packaging: It’s a 16 oz can. They have the cool U shaped logo a blue sphere type background. I’d say this combo has kind of a sci fi or techno feel to it. The also include a little graphic with their slogan in it on the front. It’s a pretty sharp looking can for a store brand for sure. Grade A-
Slogan: “U Have The Power” is there on the label along with a little logo thing. This is a pretty good logo that uses a play on the name of the drink in it. They also have “giving U the Power to take it to another level” on the side of the can. Lets not get carried away with the whole “U” thing or people will think this is a song by Prince lol. Grade B
Taste: Ok so I pop open the top and get a strong blueberry scent. Pouring some in a cup it comes out a very dark purple with a heavy carbonation. I take a sip and it is all sweet blueberry candy. It is very sweet and it is a full robust blueberry. I really can’t taste and Pomegranate in this drink at all. It is pretty much a straight up blueberry soda with no bitterness or after taste. I enjoyed it but it is very very sweet and if you don’t like blueberry you won’t like it. Grade C+ for taste
Kick/Ingredients: So after I drank this down I got a nice boost of energy. The boost was on par with maybe your typical 8 oz energy drink not your 16 oz ones. It’s a little on the low side but you will be alert and maybe even a tad bit jittery from the sugar rush. I was energized for a good 3 hours followed by a mind numbing crash that was equivalent to getting hit in the face by a 2x4. The amounts are not listed but include Caffeine, Taurine, Inositol, Glucuronolactone, and some modest levels of B vitamins. You get 240 calories, 60 grams of sugars, and 62 grams of carbs. It is sweetened with HFC. Grade C- for kick/ingredients

So the taste was ok but it was really sweet and only for blueberry lovers. I really appreciate the fact that they even offer a flavor like this. The kick was sub par for a 16 oz drink and the crash was worthy of a slasher flick. On the plus side you could drink this while listening to a Prince song. If you love blueberry and brutal crashes I highly recommend this drink other wise you might want to skip it.
