A Blast Energy drink  Berry

The drinks they just keep coming. So this week I got my hands on a new drink called Blast. It is supposed to have lower caffeine but give more energy from the. It has some unique ingredients so let’s check it out. Looking closer this seems to be more of a rebirth of the energy drink “American Blast”

Packaging: Well it comes in 2 sizes. There is an 8 oz and a 16 oz. The design is super colorful and pretty patriotic. It might be a bit busy but on first glance it will catch your attention and you will know it is an energy drink. In fact my co worker Bubba commented that it looks like a big firecracker. Caffeine content is clearly listed on the back which is a big plus. Grade C+

Slogan: I had to did a bit but I found this. “este el bebida del momento”.  This is a top drink in Puerto Rico and it translate I think to say “The drink of the Moment”. Not bad really. Grade B-

Taste:  Ok so I popped the top and I got a nice light berry scent. Pouring some in a glass it comes out a light pink color with a light carbonation. Taking a drink I get a very refreshing light mixed berry. I can’t pick out a single berry and it seems to be good blend of several. It is not overly sweet and fairly crisp. Very enjoyable with no bitterness of after taste. Grade B

Kick/Ingredients:  So I drank the entire 16 oz can. It took about 15 minutes to wake me up. The buzz is gradual and builds up to what you are familiar with from your typical 8 oz energy drink. There are no jitters and the energy is focused which makes it great for use at work or anywhere you want to be alert but not wired. The alertness last a good 4 hours with no crash. Each 16 oz can contains 80 mg caffeine, 1 mg  Inositol  and an energy blend consisting of Guarana, Taurine, Glucuronolactone,Tyrosine, L- Phenylalanine, “Quik-sorb” blend of Ginger Rhizome, Amla Fruit, capsicum fruit. Guarana. There is also a good size dose of B vitamins. You get all this with 210 calories and 21 grams of sugars. It is sweetened with corn syrup, sucralose, and Ace K. Grade C for kick/ingredients

Web Presence: The site at ablastenergydrink.com is just like the can. Flashy! It seems to be a mix of English and Spanish. There is some info there but a lot of it I can’t read. This drink is just coming to the USA though so I expect that to change in the future. Until then it is aimed at the Puerto Rico market. Grade C+

Recap:

So this is an interesting drink. It has caffeine like a smaller size drink usually would but it has some other unique ingredients that make up for it some. It has a really refreshing and crisp taste. I am sure a lot of people will enjoy this and the mild buzz it gives you. A lot of people are sensitive to caffeine and I’m sure this drink will allow them to get a boost and yet still get a good nights sleep. Sound like something you might like? Give it a try and let me know what you think.
