Amp Energy Relaunch (Amp Orange)

Well I figured I’d go ahead and knock out the last of the new Amp drinks. So far I was not very impressed with the new lineup. Would Relaunch change my mind?

Packaging: Typical 16oz can. Metallic orange fade pattern. Black around the top with key ingredients listed. Amp Logo in the middle. At the bottom is reads “Revive electrolytes B vitamins” It also reads “Burst of Orange Citrus” As with the other new Amp drinks this is one nice can. I will grade it B for packaging. The orange is not as cool looking as the Purple or Blue.

Slogans” Amp Energy ReLaunch. More Power to you” is the slogan. More power to you is the same slogan as the Amp Traction and Amp Elevate. Different purposes so I would think different slogans I’m going to give them a D for this slogan. These new drinks are all different. Why not highlight that with different slogans. I give them a D for Slogan

Taste ect:  The drink pours out a nice bright orange color with a great orange scent. I am glad the drink color matches the can! I take a sip and it is a great orange flavor with a high level of carbonation and no after taste. It is not too sweet or even salty like a Gatorade or other hydrating drink. I drink this one quickly as it is easily one of the better Orange flavored drinks I have tried. I’d say it is like a nice orange soda. I give them a grade of B+ for taste. This is the best of the new Amp flavors!

Kick/Ingredients:  Amp ReLaunch is pretty much the same as the other 2 new Amps drinks in the ingredients category. 160mg of Caffeine, 248mg Guarana, 296mg Taurine, 34mg Ginseng, and some B vitamins. There are 220 calories and 58 grams of sugars (from HFC!)  Ok so where are the electrolytes? I can’t find them? 220mg of sodium is it. I looked over various energy drinks and this is not a lot of sodium. Many regular energy drinks have this much sodium. Where is the potassium? Are the B vitamins higher? Not that I can see. They really dropped the ball on this one. You might as well drink any of the Amps for your hydration. Sure I got the typical Amp buzz followed by a medium crash. I am forever baffled by the lack of a top notch buzz from these drinks. I give them a C- for kick and ingredients. Come on Amp don’t claim to hydrate without putting the proper ingredients in.

Web presence:  Amp has a nice official page at ampenergy.com.  It is a nice flash page with some basic information on all the Amp Energy drinks. You get a pop up when looking at the Amp ReLaunch that says “The nutrition area of the Amp energy ReLaunch product is unavailable”. It appears they can’t find the hydrating ingredients either! Like I said before there are some videos clips of Amp commercials but still a lot of the other links like “store” and “Action Sports” are all listed as coming soon. They have a facebook and a lot of hits on Google. I will give them a grade of C- on web presence.  No excuse for not having ingredients info for this ReLaunch. I have them on the can!

Recap:

This was the best tasting of the new Amp drinks. They should have just called it orange Amp though since really the ingredients are not hydrating at all. Try a Hydrive or Energade if you want a hydrating energy drink. If you like orange drinks grab the Amp Relaunch. It is a great flavor but don’t expect a lot more.
