I see a line of cars and they’re all painted black

Amp Energy Tradin Paint

Well when I first caught of this new limited Amp I was excited for several reasons. First the collector in me wants to have as many cool energy drink cans as I can get. Second the flavor combination sounded interesting and unique.

Packaging: Amp got it right this time for sure. 16 oz can with a black ring around the top that reads “limited edition” in it. The top portion is green with the silver Amp logo and the green is scratched up like it was in an auto collision and paint has rubbed off. The bottom portion is whit with a big bold “88” in red(Dale Jr’s car number). The 88 also has that scratched up paint theme going for it as well. Really I love the whole execution of the “Tradin Paint” theme on this can. Very top notch job. Grade A- for packaging

Slogan: Well I could not find one really specific for this drink but on the website is “Amp Up” is a good slogan for all the Amp drinks . Sure they could have come up with something more unique but I’ll give them a grade of C.

Taste: Ok so it is supposed to be a “collision of orange, lime, berry” which sound interesting. I pop the top and get a nice lime scent. Pouring it in a glass it comes out a nice green color similar to a mountain dew but a bit darker and with a medium carbonation. Taking a sip I am hit with a very tart lime flavor. There is some orange after taste and a tiny bit of berry if you take the time to concentrate on it. Mostly though the lime dominates. It is definitely like the lime bumped the other flavors causing them to spin out on the last lap of a big race. I can picture the berry going to the winners circle after the race and punching the lime in the face for what it did. Really if you like a real tart lime drink this is ok. I give it a nice C+ for taste

Kick/Ingredients: Well after drinking this Amp Tradin paint I did get a nice little buzz going. It is exactly what you would get from regular AMP energy drink. I got a good 3 or 4 hours of mid level energy with mild jitters and a crash at the end. Not a horrible crash but more like a dented fender than a totaled burning crash. Amp never goes out on a limb even with all the different drinks they have out. 160mg of Caffeine, 248mg Guarana, 296mg Taurine, 34mg Ginseng, and some maltodextrin. There are 220 calories and 58 grams of sugars. Of course there is still the HFC and brominated vegetable oil as in all the Amp drinks. C+ for kick/ingredients

Web Presence: The site at ampenergy.com has actually improved some from last time I checked. Sure it is packed with Dale Jr but it has a little more diverse content as far other sports go. It is pretty fancy looking but a bit hard to navigate. I never did find much ingredients info. There was a special section for Tradin paint with a little flash game featuring Dale Jr’s car. Wish there was a little more ingredients info but overall it is still worth checking out. B- for web presence.

Recap:

Well I found the flavor to be a bit of a letdown. Mostly it is just a lime Amp energy drink that comes in a really cool can. The buzz is ok but I still wish they would step out a little with the ingredients and maybe ditch the BVO. If you are a can collector this is a must. If you really like lime then this is for you. If you want a complex flavored drink then pass. Nothing special inside the can but hey it will wake you up at least for a little while.
