Say hello to my little friend!
Blow energy powder
Blow. You have heard of it most likely. How could you not? It has been all over the news in print, online, and on TV. Blow in unapologetic in its advertising and packaging. Blow is a rebel company who just does not care what people think. Sounds like a good idea for an energy product. I mean if you want to get jacked up and party all night you probably not reaching for a nice wholesome energy type beverage. I guess what people really want to know is if Blow is a good energy drink? I also have a companion interview with the founder of Blow. There is a link to it at the end of this review.
Packaging: The Blow I got came in a box. The box is called the “Stash Box sampler pack” and it contains 2 vials of Blow mix. The box has Blow spelled out in a white powder font so it looks like blow. The website and MySpace address is on the front as well. As for images there is a bunch of Blow powder. Once you remove the plastic wrap the top of the box flips up to reveal some photos of hot chicks as well as some other images including a beeper, a roll of 100 dollar bills, and a Ferrari car key. I think they nailed the image they are going for. Inside the box are 2 vials of blow powder, a fake credit card, some “I love blow stickers, and a Blow tattoo. The vials themselves are about 2 inches tall and are clear with a black wrap label that has the same powder blow font used to spell out the name. Around the top of the vial it says “Pure uncut Energy” at the bottom is reads “Warning do not snort blow” On the back it reads “Add entire vial to any 16oz beverage and enjoy with a friend” I’m going to give them a grade of A+ for packaging. Whether you agree with the message or not there was a whole lot of effort put into the design and they got their message across with flying colors.
Slogans: You have 2 choices. “I love Blow” or “Pure Uncut energy” I like the second one myself. I’ll give them a grade of B for slogan.
Taste ect: Is Blow all image? Does the taste really blow? Well let me tell you. Opening the vial you see a white coarse powder. It smells like Smarties or Sweet tarts candy. I poured mine into a 16 oz bottle of water. It took some effort to get it full dissolved but after some shaking I got it mixed well. I take a few sips and I’m surprised. It taste like a berry flavored candy or Pixie sticks. Not overly sweet for a sugar free product and I got 0 aftertaste or bitterness. I tried mixing it in a Vodka martini as well(do so at your own risk) and it worked well like that also. I have to says it was better than I expected. I will give it a solid B for taste.
Kick/Ingredients: So will Blow get the party started? Hell yes! 240mg of caffeine, 50mg of Kola nut extract, 2000mg of Taurine thrown in with your B vitamins, Inositol, and L-Carnitine make for a potent drink. I got a quick buzz that lasted several hours. Even mixed with alcohol I still felt the energy lift and was ready to party. If you did not want as much energy you could use less than a full vial so it is adjustable. I will give it a grade of B+ for kick it hits hard and quick and maintains the energy. There is zero calories or sugar and no strange ingredients.
Web presence: It is hard to miss the web presence for Blow. They go all out with the address of their website and their Myspace address on the box. The website has a nice little flash page with the hot chicks on it and pages that give you nutrition information, a store to buy Blow and Blow accessories, and contact information. Their graphics go along with the whole tongue in cheek cocaine theme. These are some of the images that the FDA seems concerned with. Blow even has a page at Youtube filled with tv news stories about Blow. I have to give Blow a grade of A for web presence. It is all over the place!
Recap:
I like Blow and plan on scoring some more Blow soon. I know it is controversial but I am sure the controversy has only led to more people hearing about and trying Blow. One might think that Blow was just hype but then you find out that they are a legit powerful energy drink that taste pretty good. Blow is not targeting teens with its sales in clubs and bars but is aiming for the party crowd. I think they nailed it. If your old enough you should try it. You might not like the name and image but you probably will like the drink.
Make sure you read my interview with the founder of Blow! It is an interesting interview I think you will enjoy.
