BLU energy drink
Here is a drink I had never heard of until they contacted me. Blu energy is made in Poland. It is distributed here in the USA by Rockitt imports. I looked around and could really not find any info or reviews so I am really interested in seeing what it s all about. I do know it is huge worldwide but is just coming around in the USA. It is billing itself as cheaper than Red Bull and better tasting.
Packaging: Typical 8.4 oz slim can. The can is a nice blue color with background images that really make me think of a club or bar atmosphere. Overall it is pretty subdued and not overly busy. I like the slick feel of it all. I’ll give it a grade of B
Slogan: “Blu your mind” is one I found online and I like it. It is product specific and fun. It might be a bit silly but still I think it works well. Grade B
Taste: OK so right off I am expecting a RB clone based on the little info I have. I pop the top and get that familiar scent. I pour some in a cup and it comes out a yellow color with a medium carbonation. I take a sip and I am surprised. To me this has a much more candy like flavor. Think Smarties candy. It has only a little of that classic energy drink taste to it but it is not gummy. I think this is closer to a Rockstar clone than a RB clone and to me that is great. There is no bitterness or after taste and it makes a great mixer to boot. Grade B+
Kick/ingredients. So I tried this drink several times and it was very typical. I got a good 3 to 4 hour boost of energy. There were no jitters or crash. If you have had a Red Bull then you can expect a very similar buzz. Each can is powerd by 80 mg caffeine, 1000 mg Taurine, and some B vitamins. It comes with 115 calories, 27 grams of sugar, and 28 grams of carbs. It is sweetened with sugar(no HFC). It might not be special but it deliver a good average buzz that many are used to. Grade C for kick/ingredients
Web presence: They have a site at blu4lifeusa.com and it is ok. It does not offer any real product info or a way to order. It is a nice flash site just not a lot of content. I hope they add some more content soon. This site has some potential. They also have a facebook Grade C-

Ok so I was pretty impressed. I like the taste and was surprised by it not just being a RB clone. The kick was average but that will make this a great mixer for the bars and clubs out there where you might drink several and don’t want to get over caffeinated. The can is pretty sharp to top it all off. I think you should look into trying this drink. It is cheaper than RB while delivering what you expect. Keep an eye out for this drink. I’ll be reviewing the SF version soon. If you do find some let me know what you think.
