I can hear the bullfrog callin me.
Blu Frog

Ok so just a while back I had an “insanely healthy energy” drink and it was pretty good. Now comes along a “Wildly Healthy” energy drink. How could I pass that up? Not to mention there is a lot of hype behind this drink so I have heard about it but have yet to hear how it stacks up. Blu Frog comes along in the same vein as Verve and other MLM energy drink companies. Don’t let all that scare you off though. I have found drinks from these types of companies are often very good.
Packaging: Blu Frog starts off with your typical slim 8.3 oz energy drink can. The can has a nice printed on label. At the to the label is Blue mostly with some lighter Blue circle patterns in the back ground and at the bottom the label is red. The Name “Blu Frog” is at the top in a white font that looks like it is moving really fast or being blown away by wind. Below the name it reads “Wildly healthy Energy in a smaller white font. Down in the red section is a Blue Frog” The frog looks kind of energetic and happy with a big smile(frogs have teeth?) and one raised eyebrow. It’s like the frog is actually Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson lol. Then right at the bottom it reads “A Ribbity Bold Dietary Supplement”. Back of the can has a blurb about the drink and supplement facts. At first the can looks a little too cartooney but for some reason I like it. It is very bright and cheery. It’s just a fun design that stands out among the other drinks out there. Grade B- for packaging
Slogans: I found this on the can. “Down a frog, the hip way to get your hop on” A little silly but hey I like the fact that they put some drink specific thought into it. Once again it is just fun and cheery. Grade B- for slogan
Taste: I pop the top and get a nice tropical fruit scent. I pour some in a cup and it comes out a cloudy orange yellow colored liquid with a light carbonation. It looks healthy and maybe a little pulpy. I take a sip and I get a Papaya flavor mixed in with some natural Mango taste. It finishes with a hint of pear. Wow the papaya and mango really blend nice together. It is not super sweet but it has a real juice level of sweetness to it. It is a little thick but it has mango and papaya puree in it so that is ok. This flavor combo had me chugging it down way too fast. This stuff is very drinkable and quenching. After I was finished I was wishing it came in a bigger can. Grade B+ for taste
Kick/Ingredients. Ok so I am not expecting a jittery blow the top of my head off kick from this drink. I drank it down rather quickly and had a nice burst of energy going in about 15 minutes. I was not jittery and bouncy but I had a nice boost in my alertness and concentration. I was hopping around getting stuff done, talking on the phone, multitasking like crazy and in general just had a smooth even energy that fit in well at work. Before I knew it 4 hours had passed and I slowly lost the buzz. No crash here at all. So what makes this drink wildly healthy energy? 80 mg of caffeine from Guarana, 1000 mg of Taurine, 10 mg Choline Chloride, 50 mg Inositol, 200 mg Quercetin, B vitamins, Tongan Limu Moui extract, Papaya puree, Mango puree, pear juice, and apple juice. The Tongan Limu Moui extract is a good source of Fucoidan which is supposed to have many benefits. Blu Frog is sweetened with only Fructose so it comes in at only 68 calories and 17 grams of sugar and carbs. While the kick is average you have to consider the healthy ingredients in here. I give them a grade of C+ for kick/ingredients
Web presence: At blufrogenergy.com you will find a pretty nice website. Sure it is an MLM type company but the site does no have that cheesy feel to it. The site looks nice and it is easy to find ingredients info. I’d like to see a lot more ingredients info. They pretty much just show you what’s on the can and not much info on Blu Frogs unique ingredients. Overall the site is geared to get you selling Blu Frog. Grade C- for web presence. Need more info and less selling.
Recap:
I really think Blu Frog is a good healthy energy drink. I loved the taste and it has a kick on par with your average 8 oz energy drink. You won’t feel bad about drinking it either since is has low calories and sugar and loads of healthy stuff in there as well. If you’re looking for some good health energy I don’t think you could go wrong with giving this drink a try.
