Some Bark all Bite!
Boo Koo Bite
So I am at the store and I see these huge cans of energy drink. 24oz cans in several flavors and a budget price to boot. I had to go for it. The first one I tried is Boo Koo Bite. I have heard Boo Koo knows how to make a top notch energy drink so I had bookoo expectations from this drink.
Packaging: It’s a big green and black can. 24 oz is big. It’s not Monster BFC big but the design of this can makes it look bigger than other 24 oz energy drink cans. Maybe you wonder what does Boo Koo stand for? Look here and you will see it means abundance. So the name makes you think the drink is loaded with energy. That is a great name I think. The words lime green words Boo+Koo are vertical on the can with a darker green tribal design underneath it. Bite is on one side of this and energy is on the other. You know this is an aggressive energy drink. At the top of the can are the words 3 drinks in one can. This lets you know your getting a good value. I’m going to give them a B for can design. They get there message across very well and I like the tribal design. Only thing missing is what the flavor is supposed to be.
Slogans: No real slogan that I could find on the can or the website. I have to give them an F for slogan. It is not a deal breaker by any means but it’s nice to have a catch phrase or slogan.
Taste ect: So with all the green you think Lime? Apple? Citrus? I pour some in a glass and I’m hit with the classic RB clone smell. Very potent. The color however is not green in any way. It is very brown? Not like a coke brown but like a watered down coke. Not a very pleasant color at all and does not whet ones appetite. I’d skip the caramel color and add in some green if it was me. I take a few sips and it is super sweet like a red bull with added sweetness. Then it hits you hard! Sourness that pinches your jaws at the back. You like sour then this is your drink. Not bad but super sweet and sour. I’ll have to give it a C- for flavor. Maybe for some this level of sweetness and sourness is great but it is too much for me.
Kick/Ingredients: Well taste is always a bonus for me in an energy drink. I drink energy drinks first and foremost for the kick. Will Boo Koo Bite redeem itself in the kick dept? Hell yeah! 24 oz adds up to 360 mg of caffeine, 3000mg of Taurine, 300mg of Ginseng, plenty of B vitamins 90 grams of Carbs, and 360 calories. Drink this bad boy in one sitting and you will be going strong all night long. You would have to drink 4.5 Red bulls to get this kind of kick. I was jacked up for hours and probably annoyed those around me with my boundless energy. I’ll give them a B for kick. It would be an A but one of the reasons it is so strong is the amount. Still for the value it is one hell of a kick
Web presence: Boo Koo has a nice site at Bookooenergy.com There is a load of content there including ingredients information, about Boo Koo section, video clips, mp3s for ringtones you can download, information on all their flavors, and a store to buy their drinks. It is very well laid out and one of the better energy drink sites I have seen. Check it out for sure. I’m going to give them an A- for web presence
Recap:
Boo Koo seems to really have it together and I expect to see them around a long time. While this flavor may not be one of my favorites I will be trying others soon and will review them as well. I would still grab a Boo Koo bite though because I know it is going to provide me the kick I need.
