I can't name names cause that's not cricket

Century energy drink

So this is one of those that totally caught me off guard. I mean I get a box in the mail and these drinks are in there. No note, no email, no idea where they came from. That makes it very interesting. A bit of a Sticky Wicket you might say. There is no website up yet and pretty much no info anywhere about these drinks. I am going in totally blind on this one. The only thing I do know is that this drink is made in the USA and imported into India. That is a huge market and this drink is also tied into the sport of Cricket which makes a lot of sense. Cricket games last 6 to 8 hours long(I did some research!). I mean either watching or playing an energy drink might come in handy

Packaging: So it is a 473 ml (16 oz) can. It has a dark label with an interesting swirl pattern on it. Now the name of the drink is very hard to read. It is vertical and the font while nice and unique is just hard to read. Not a bad can just different. I like how all the ingredients and amounts are clearly listed on the back. There is also a little Cricket logo on the front. The importance of this is that in India Cricket is a huge sport. Grade C+ for packaging

Slogan:  So on the  side of the can is this “It’s our century-Lets change it! One love-one future”.   Works well with the name of the drink but does not really scream energy to me. I was hoping they would work in some interesting cricket slang.  Like this “This one’s a real Bunsen!”  ( I told you I did some research!).  I’ll give them a C+ for slogan but they can feel free to use mine in the future.

Taste: I believe this is the first pineapple energy drink I have tried. So I pop the top and I get a nice light pineapple scent. I pour some in a cup and it comes out a bright yellow liquid with a light carbonation. Taking a sip the taste is a nice light pineapple. It is both natural tasting and somewhat candy like. The finish is great with a real nice sweet pineapple flavor lingering at the edges of my mouth. There is no bitterness or after taste at all. It is not to sugary or syrupy either. If you like pineapple you will love this one. Grade B+

Kick/Ingredients: So it was afternoon slump time at work. I drank this drink down and got a nice little burst of energy. It was  slightly above average but good and did not make me jittery at all. Great buzz for staying focused and energized at the same time. I had a good level of energy for 4 hours with only a minor sugar crash at the end. Each can is powerd by  147 mg Caffeine, 946 mg Taurine, 47.3 mg Guarana, 208 mg Inositol, 24 mg Yerba Mate, green tea, and a fair amount of B vitamins. You get all this with 166 calories and 43 grams of sugar. It is sweetened with HFC. Grade C+

Web Presence: There is a placeholder at itsmycentury.com so I’ll give them an NA for now.

Recap:

So going in I knew nothing but here is what I know now. Century is a damn tasty energy drink. I really enjoyed the great pineapple flavor. It delivers a middle of the road(typical) energy buzz with minimal crash. I can see me enjoying this drink on a regular basis. I also learned some stuff about cricket as well as discovered that they grow pineapples in India(I had no idea!). That is one thing I love about reviewing drinks. I put a lot into researching for each review and a lot of time I discover some fun and interesting things. If you see this drink I think you should give it a try. I imagine it would be really awesome on a warm day and it would probably make a killer mixer for tropical adult beverages if you are of age. If you try some let me know what you think!  PS since I wrote this I found out that International Cricket Star Chris Gayle is behind this drink.
