Ed Hardy Energy Sticks

On we roll with 2011 the year of the energy powder. Here we have another entry. This time from Ed hardy snacks. Now the Ed hardy chocolate and coffee rocks were very good as well as strong. How with their energy sticks be? Let’s check them out

Packaging:  Of course with Ed Hardy it is a love or hate kind of thing for a lot of people. Let’s set that aside though and look at the design here. The box itself is very nice. It fits easily in a shirt pocket and holds 3 pouches of powder. The design of both flavors is an oriental tattoo design that just really works well. I love the classic tat design with the dragon and the panther and snake. The caffeine content is clearly listed and it even reads “Sweet Caffeine” on it. No jumbled or overly busy either. Really a sharply laid out package. The stiks(pouches) themselves are not much to look at. Overall I give it a grade of A-

Slogan: “Get up. Get going. Stay Energized” Is on their website and it is ok. I prefer the “Sweet Caffeine” on the package though as a slogan. Grade B

Taste:

• Orange:  Nice orange powder with a sweet orange scent. You pour it directly into your mouth. The flavor is a really nice sweet orange candy/sugar mix. Not out of this world but not bad either. There was only a tiny hint of after taste but nothing too bad. Grade B
• Pomegranate:  So this one is a light purple powder with a nice berry scent. I have not had a pomegranate powder before and this one is surprisingly tasty. It is a pomegranate flavor but then it has hints of berry in it to sweeten it up some. This one had no after taste at all and was one of the better tasting powders I have tried. Grade B+

Kick/Ingredients: So after dissolving the powder on your tongue you will be awakened pretty quickly. It is not a super strong blast of energy or anything but I’d put it on par with your typical 8.4 oz energy drink or small coffee. I got a nice bit of alertness that lasted an hour or 2 with no crash. You could easily eat 2 of these if you wanted a bigger buzz.  You get this buzz from 80 mg of caffeine and some B vitamins. It has 0 calories and 2 grams of carbs. It is sweetened with sucralose and Ace K. Grade C

Web Presence: The site at edhardysnacks.com is just ok. It gives you some info and also a list of places where you can get these and other Ed hardy snacks.  I guess I was expecting more color and pop from an Ed Hardy site than this. It gets the job done in a bare bones kind of way though. Grade C

Ok so this is a really nicely designed product that is portable and sharp looking. It has a pretty good taste as well. The energy is on the low side but no more so than a small Red Bull. I enjoyed these and the price is pretty cheap coming in at around a buck per serving (box of 3 sticks for 3 dollars). If you happen to see these I think you should give them a try.
