And I Burn

Fireball Pro-formance Cocktail energy drink

I heard about this drink through friends into paintball. The company behind Fireball is Exotic Sportz. It appears that Exotic Sportz is a paintball manufacturer as well as a store. People involved in paintball have to have high energy so energy drinks are popular among the players. I’m hoping I can get the kind of energy these guys need for this intense sport.

Packaging: This is one of the things that caught my eye right away about Fireball Pro-formance Cocktail. It comes in a 12 oz glass bottle. Lots of people think that beverages are best out of glass. The bottle is a clear long neck type bottle that is shrink wrapped in a cool paint splatter orange and yellow pattern. The bottle is sealed with a black metal lid.  Below the neck of the bottle it reads “Refreshing Citrus Burst” as the flavor. Below this is a black boxed in section with a cool Fireball logo that consists of a flaming paintball combined with the name fireball in a flaming font. Very nice logo. Under the logo is reads “Pro-formance Cocktail” in a white font along with their slogan in white also. The back has your nutrition facts. I will give them a grade of B- for packaging. I like the glass bottle and the logo a lot.

Slogan: “Set Your Game On Fire” Very nice slogan for a paintball themed drink. I guess it even works well with the libido enhancing effect they mention on their website as well.
I will give them a grade of B for slogan

Taste: Citrus? It can be many things really so I was not sure what to expect. I pop off the top and I get a scent like fruit punch? I pour some in a cup and it comes out a pinkish red color. It has a medium high level of carbonation. I take a sip and really it taste like a good carbonated version of Hawaiian Punch or like a punch you would find in a bowl at a party or gathering. The thing is that it is carbonated more like a soda which works very well. I have to say it was one of the better punch flavors I have had in an energy drink. Not overly sweet like so many punch flavored drinks. I got zero aftertastes and I did not feel thirsty like I do after drinking most punch drinks. I will give them a grade of B for flavor.

Kick/Ingredients: I was pretty tired when I drank this and after I finished it I got a nice little boost. I was not jittery at all and I stayed alert for 3 hours. I would say this is pretty average in the kick department. The key ingredients in Fireball are Caffeine, Ginseng, Ginko Biloba, L-Carnatine, and 100mg of Horny Goat Weed. It has only 112 calories and 28 grams of carbs. I like the fact that they use cane sugar. Not sure how thrilled about masked guys with paintball guns running around after consuming 100 mgs of Horny Goat Weed though lol. I will give them a grade of C+ for kick/ingredients. It is an average kick but it has some quality ingredients.

Web Presence: There is a site for  the parent company at exoticsportz.com and then there is a page just for Fireball the drink at drinkfireball.com. Both are ok but are nor real professional. Keep in mind that this is a small company and I’m sure they are not going to spend a fortune on web design. The Fireball site has info on where you can purchase Fireball as well as some minimal ingredient info (mostly about the Horney goat weed?). They also offer up some nice mixer recipes. I will give them a C- for web presence. Might be time to pay someone to polish up the site and I’d like a little more ingredient info

Recap:

This was a pretty good drink. I liked the light punch flavor even though it is supposed to be “Citrus burst”. They nailed the proper level of carbonation down for sure. The packaging in a long neck glass bottle was great as well. I can see where this would be very refreshing iced down in a cooler on a hot day and I also think it would make a great mixer. So if you get a chance I say try this drink and let me know what you think.
