Ok if you know anything about energy drinks you have heard of Bawls. It’s a company that has been around for quite a while and has a huge following. The main fan base for Bawls has been geeks and gamers. I have always like Bawls Guarana drinks and I was very excited to see they were releasing a root beer flavored drink. I like root beer and there really are not any caffeine loaded Root Beer drinks out there. Many will say that Bawls is not an energy drink and they are mostly right. If you only consider drinks that have high caffeine along with other energy ingredients to be energy drinks then more power to you. I like to think any drink with a high caffeine content that provides you energy qualifies as an energy drink.
Packaging: G33K B33R comes in the award winning 10oz classic Bawls glass bottle. The bottle is brown for the G33K B33R and has these tiny little raised bumps/balls all around it. It has a metal screw on lid. The label is simple. It’s a clear label that reads “Bawls Guarana” and then below it “High Caffeine Guarana Root Beer” all in a white font. Below this it reads “G33K B33R” in a blue font. That is pretty much it. It works though. The bottle itself without the label is what makes the packaging get a grade of A. Root Beer belongs in a bottle! The bottle feels cool and fun to hold in your hand. This is top shelf packaging in my book.
Slogan: “Unleash Your Inner G33K” is the slogan. That nails it down when it comes to G33K B33Rs target audience. Bawls knows its bread and butter lies with gamers and geeks so it makes a slogan to celebrate them. I give them a grade of A- for slogan. It is target specific and works for that but other potential drinkers might be left scratching their heads.
Taste: I chilled my G33K B33R down as cold as I could get it without freezing (where is a frosty mug when you need one?). I twist off the cap and I am immediately hit with the delicious smell of root beer. If you like root beer then you will immediately be thirsty just from the scent. The G33K B33R pours out a dark brown color with a good level of carbonation and it actually has a head. This is real root beer. Not just some root beer flavored soda. I take a sip and the flavor is delicious. I immediately am hit with the sassafras flavor with a little bite and a lot of creaminess. I have to tell you I really like root beer and this is a quality one. There is no after taste and the guarana blends in so well that you won’t notice it. This one is definitely chuggable! I will give them a grade of A for taste. If you like quality root beer then make sure you buy several of these G33K B33Rs. One is not enough.
Kick/ingredients. I got a nice boost that lasted a couple of hours and had very little crash. I did not get any jitters either. Of course with the great taste you would probably drink more than one! The only energy ingredient in here is caffeine at 64mg. This puts it a little over Mountain Dew in the caffeine amount. Otherwise you have Carbonated Water, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Caramel Color, Sodium Benzoate ( as a preservative), Caffeine, Citric Acid, Natural and Artificial Flavor and Guarana Extract. 130 calories and 36 grams of sugar. I will give them a grade of C+ for kick/ingredients. That is above average and not bad at all. Your average 8oz energy drink is a C and does not taste near as good or look near as cool.
Web presence: I could spend a lot of time on this section but just go visit Bawls.com. There you will find a top notch site as you should expect from a company catering to geeks. Product info, news, wallpapers, video clips, company info, where to buy, and faq. Then you have bawlstyle.com which is another Bawls website. This one caterers to gaming, Paintball, and BMX. Bawls is big into sponsoring all of these activities. The Bawlstyle site has all kind of event info and sponsorship info. Anyway check them both out. Bawls has not cut any corners. They also have a myspace page you should visit as well. Grade A

If you’re looking for insane energy G33K B33R is probably not for you. If you are looking for a premium root beer to drink several of throughout the day or night then this is the drink for you. Drink some at work, drink some at home, drink some while playing a marathon session of GTA IV or WOW, make a G33K B33R float for dessert! There are many great times to drink this beverage. I for one will be making room in my fridge for some G33K B33R. The taste was awesome and the bottle as usual adds to it appeal. Great job Bawls! This company continues to produce top shelf quality drinks and this one was no exception.
