Guayaki Organic energy shot  (3 flavors)

Well there are many Organic and healthy energy drinks out there but really little to no organic healthy energy shots. What is a health food environment loving energy drink junkie to do? That is not me but there are many out there that want to be healthy and responsible with their energy drink and shot consumption. This is where Guayaki comes in. Guayaki is a company known for its Yerba Mate.

Packaging: Right off Guayaki comes out swinging with a glass shot bottle. This is very unique and considering many people prefer glass to plastic for drinks is a really good idea. The bottle is very medicinal looking and will fit in very well at a health food type store. I like the fact that “Organic Energy Shot” is very prominent on the label. The front label is not overly busy either which helps. I give it a grade of B for packaging.

Slogan:  “Feel the Good Energy” is the slogan for all Guayaki products and works very well with the market they are looking for. Grade A- for slogan

Taste:

Kick/ingredients.  Well someone had just told me I looked like I was about to drop and that I looked like crap. I guess they were right I was tired and just had little energy. I drank this shot down and in 15 minutes I was very alert and awake. My focus was great and I was getting things done with ease. I was in a great mood and just felt a lot better than I had earlier. I easily stayed alert and energized for a god 4 to 5 hours. Very unique buzz. Ingredients is where Guayaki Organic shots shine.  140 mg caffeine from Yerba Mate extract and powder, Acerola, Goji, Ginger, Cocoa(only in the Choc Rasp version), 100% of your vitamin C and 1670 DV  of your B12. It comes in at 35 calories and 8 grams of carbs and sugars. It is sweetened with Evaporated cane juice. There is much discussion among scientist as to the caffeine or Matiene in Yerba Mate and I have to agree it is a very different buzz than your typical caffeine.  Yerba Mate is also filled with powerful antioxidants and at much higher levels than green tea.  I tried all 3 flavors on separate occasions and every time it performed very well. I give it a grade of B+ for kick/ingredients

Web presence:  The website at guayaki.com is very nice. You will find a ton and I mean a ton of info on their products and ingredients. On top of that there is a ton of info on the company and its social responsibility. They are big into saving the Amazon Forrest and its people, the environment, and just about ever green issue out there. It makes for a very interesting read and if you are interested in these issues you could spend a lot of time there. Of course there is a store, faq, list of athletes and musicians they sponsor, and just so much more than I can go into here.  Grade B+ for web presence.
Recap:

Ok so maybe these shots are not for everyone. I can see myself reaching for one of these shots for the unique great buzz and top shelf healthy ingredients. The taste while not my favorite is not something that would keep me away. It’s not often that you can feel good health wise about drinking an energy shot and still get this level of buzz. Quality wise I don’t think you will find many shots out there that offer this much either.  Did I mention it is Organic, Rainforest grown, Fair trade, and Kosher? Heck I think you could even use the empty bottle to take out a Japanese Whaler! No matter what your cause they got you covered. I say head down to your local Whole Foods market and give this shot a try.
