Helix energy drink mix

Another product from a small company. You gotta love the fact that there is a chance for these small companies to get in the energy drink game. I think this segment of the beverage market offers the best chance for success for the smaller companies. Here we have a powdered drink mix from Helix. I have heard good things about the company and the product so I have high hope this will be a good one.

Packaging: Helix starts off with a small foil lined white pouch. On the front of the package are 2 images of an orange Helix at each end. In the middle is the Helix logo which is a really nice design. Below the logo it reads “Energy + Ginseng” followed by the flavor which is orange. On the back are ingredients and directions. Overall a pretty nice package. For a small upstart it looks very professional. Grade B for packaging. Compared to other mixes this on is very good.

Slogan:  Well I tried but could not find one so grade F for slogan.

Taste:  I had the recommended 16.9 oz bottle of water so I poured the bright orange crystalline powder into it.  I shook the bottle just a couple of times and the powder dissolved completely. Very good job on the dissolvability I think since most powders do not dissolve the good. I ended up with nice orange clear water. It had a nice orange drink smell. Taking a sip it is a fairly sweet orange flavor like a Tang or Kool-Aid. It was tart and sweet with no real aftertaste aside from the artificial sweetener. It went down very easily and was very enjoyable. It was not even like drinking an energy drink taste wise and there was no bitterness. Grade C+ for taste  If you like orange drinks you are going to like this one.

Kick/ingredients.  I drank it pretty quickly since it was non carbonated and very drinkable. In 15 or so minutes my energy really ramped up. I have to say I don’t remember the last time an energy drink mix jacked me up like this. I was very animated and very social talking a lot with everyone I came in contact with over the next 4 or 5 hours. I also had a big smile on my face and a slight bit of jitters. So 5 hours of potent intense energy with no crash. I though maybe it was a fluke but the next time I tried it it was just as strong. So what makes this tiny packet so strong? 160 mg of caffeine, Taurine, Ginseng, Glucuronolactone, L-Carnitine , B vitamins, and 100% dv of vitamin C.  You get that with only 10 calories and 2 grams of carbs. It is sweetened with sucralose and Ace k.  For a tiny package this product packs a mean punch. Grade A- for kick/ingredients

Web presence:  They have a website at helixdrinks.com that is ok. This is a real small operation so don’t expect a major company website filled with tons of content. What you will find is a store, events, press, contacts, and where to buy. Still has the feel of being under construction a bit but this company is just getting started. Grade C-
Recap:

I have to tell you that this is a really great product overall. It is very portable, mixes well, taste good, and most important gives you massive energy. To top it off it comes in at 50 cents a serving when ordered from their website which makes it a great value. I hope this product gets the attention it deserves and gets some good distribution. If the right things fall in place this could well be the leader in the energy mix market. It is that good. So I say lets support them. Go buy 20 packs for around 10 bucks and share them with your friends. They will be impressed I promise you. One thing for sure they won’t be is sleepy or lethargic. Make sure you warn them this is strong stuff.
