Hydrive energy Chews. Orange Burst
Ok so I am kicking off alternative energy week here at edjunkie.com with the new energy chews from Hydrive. I love the idea of these chews. They are portable and will come in handy on my bike rides. Now let’s just see if they perform up to their potential.
Packaging: They start off in a bright orange foil pack with a little hole at the top so they can be easily displayed on a rack at your local store. Right at the top it reads “Full Power Energy Chews “Just below that is the Hydrive swirl in a multi hued orange color. It read “Hydrive Energy” right over the swirl in a bold black and white font. Next is the Flavor “Orange Burst” followed by the image of an orange colored chew. Beneath the chew it reads “Rapid Release” and at the very bottom you see that there are 4 chews per pack. Back has a blurb followed by supplement facts. This is a nice packaging job. It is bright and grabs your attention while letting you know it is an energy product. Grade B for packaging
Slogan: As usual the slogan for Hydrive is “Better Energy” and is one of my favorites. It is simple and to the point. Grade B for slogan
Taste: OK so in the package are 4 chews wrapped in silver foil. You get the scent as soon as you open the package and it is a nice orange cream scent. Opening one of the little foil wrapper you see a small orange chew that is orange and soft. Popping on in my mouth it chews easily and has a really sweet orange creamsicle flavor. It is a lot softer than a starburst candy and has a minor bit of grit. The orange taste lingers and is very pleasant.
I will tell you that you will have a hard time not eating all 4 of these as they are very good. If you like candy you will love these. There is no vitamin taste or smell at all. Grade A- for taste
Kick/Ingredients: I tried these chews several times and every time they performed well. They say rapid release on the package and they mean it. I’d say under 5 minutes after chewing 2(a serving is 2 chews) I was hit with some potent energy. Really it was hard and fast. I was filled with energy and it helped fuel me on a long bike ride as well as while I was working on the lawn, and even a slow day at work. I’d say I got a solid 4 hours of slightly jittery energy. These pack more punch than your average energy shot or 8 oz energy drink. These chews power you with 80mg caffeine, 66mg of Taurine, full daily values of your B vitamins, and 200% dv for vitamin C. You get this with 40 calories, 8 grams of carbs, and 6 grams of sugars. You even get 10 of your daily calcium! Grade B+ for kick/ingredients
Web Presence: the site at hydriveenergy.com is a pretty nice site. It is very well laid out and easy to navigate. The colors used throughout are very bright and energetic. There is a ton of info on all of their products as well as a store, their story, press, cycling info, and much more. Fun site to visit as well as look around on. Get some cycling tips from the world’s fastest cyclist Sam Whittingham even. Grade B- for web presence.

I really enjoyed these little chews. They are a great alternative to energy drinks and shots. They allow you to control your dosage of caffeine (eat 1 to 4 chews). They taste like candy, they are portable, and they pack a damn good kick. To top it all off they are a great value. Per serving they are about $1.25 at the suggested price of 2.49 per pack. I think you need to give these a try. If you are an athlete you are really going to love them. If you’re not an athlete you will love them as well. Keep them in your desk drawer, purse, backpack ect for when you need some quick energy.
