I ain’t scared

Jetset Energy Club Soda
Ok I decided to go for something a little different. Most of the big boys in the energy drink industry shy away from mixing alcohol with their energy drinks. Not that they really mean it or care but they always say they don’t recommend it and are pretty adamant about that. Hell Red Bull is probably staying on top thanks to their large presence in bars and clubs. I mean come on who are they trying to fool? If you really don’t want people to mix your drink with alcohol then why plaster every bar and club in town with your swag?  Now some of the smaller companies are not scared and Jetset is one of those.  They are actually making energy mixers! So today I grabbed a can of Jetset energy Club Soda and a bottle of New Amsterdam Gin and mixed me up a kicked up Gin and Soda.

Packaging: Jetset club soda comes in a 10.5 oz can. The can is blue with a background of circles like ripples in water in and ever expanding circle. The name Jetset is very prominent on the front and there is a ring of clocks circling the top for the can with names cities under them. These are cities associated with great party scenes. On the back is an silhouette of a DJ  spinning some records. I think the can gets the whole party vibe out there very well. You know this is a party drink. The ingredients and amounts are also listed on the back. I know I said all that in the last Jetset original review but it is the same can only a different color. The blue color makes me think it will be refreshing so I will give them a B+ for packaging. It’s a nice can that gets its message across well.

Slogans:  The Jetset logo/slogan is “Mile high energy” which is only so so and does not make me think party very much. I think they could use a better slogan. I give them a C+ for slogan.

Taste ect: Open the can and it has no real scent at all. Duh it it water your saying right? Yes but you might expect that with no real flavoring there would be nothing to mask the typical medicinal energy drink scent. Don’t know how they did it but there is no smell.  I grab me nice tall glass not plastic but real glass. You have to have real glass for a gin and soda (I like gin and soda a lot). I full the glass with ice, add about a shot and a half of New Amsterdam gin, then add some Jetset energy club soda. It’s bubbly like you expect a club soda to be. It’s not super carbonated like say a topo chico but still has a nice fizz to it. There is probably enough to mix 2 drinks in the can. I save the rest. I have a sip and it taste just like a gin and soda should taste. I don’t think I could tell if it was an energy soda or just a regular club soda. I enjoyed it and then drank the rest of the soda without the gin. It still tasted just like club soda. Very refreshing! I will give them a B+ for taste. Not that club soda has a lot of flavor anyway but I like club soda and Jetset nails it somehow even with the energy ingredients. Even if your out and don’t want to mix this then it will be refreshing and uplifting with no added sugar. Just a nice refreshing club soda.

Kick/Ingredients: I had some music going and I felt my mood and energy pick up right away. I got a nice boost from it even with the gin. The usual ingredients of 120 mg caffeine,1000 mg of Taurine,Inositol, Guarana, B vitamins and Glucuronolactone. Nothing unusual but a good typical mix. I got a good initial rush  and then a little more after I finished the can. My energy was up for several hours and I was having a good time. I will give it a B- for kick. Not a huge boost but a nice medium one.  I felt if you were out or at a party this would be a great drink to have a few of.

Web presence:  They have a really nice site at Drinkjetset at least as far as design goes. It’s a well designed flash site and offers you nutrition facts for each of their drinks as well as some party drink recipes. There is also contact info as well as and about us section. Not a real deep site but I love the design. If you search Jetset energy on google you will find they have a myspace as well as lots of articles. I give it a B- for web presence.

Recap:

I have to say I like this better than Jetset original. I like the company, I like the fact they actually say their drinks are mixers and are not scared of a lawsuit or some such nonsense. People drink energy drinks mixed with alcohols all the time and they are tapping into this market well. Sure red bull has a grip on the bar market so they have a tough market to crack but I hope they get in there. I just wish I had access to their drinks locally
