Jitsu energy shot – 2x

Ok so I was attracted to this shot right away because of the evil looking package. This is one of the cooler looking packages I have seen and it gave me high hopes it would be as extreme as it looks. Jitsu is an MMA related product so that also says extreme to me. Let’s see if it can go the distance or will it Tap out in the first round.
Packaging: Jitsu starts off with a squat 2 oz plastic shot bottle. I have not seen one like this before and it has a large screw off orange lid. The label is mostly black and except on the front which has a red portion in an orange fade. There is this black goat skull coming out of the orange section right in the middle that looks wicked cool. This goat skull is the Jitsu brand logo I believe. To one side of the logo it reads “MMA Energy 2X” and on the other it list some benefits of the shot. The back has supplement facts. Really this is one of the more extreme packages I have seen on an energy shot and I really think it stands out in a crowd. Grade A- for packaging
Slogan: "Fighters choice" is on the neck of the bottle and I almost missed it. It is not super catchy but it does work with the MMA related nature of this shot. Grade C+
Taste: Twisting off the lid on this shot I get a nice orange slice scent. Pouring it in a cup it comes out pink? I should be used to that but it’s hard to get over things not being colored like their flavor. I take a sip and it is a mildly sweet orange candy flavor followed by some bitterness. The sweetness is pretty low in this shot so if you don’t like things real sweet this will appeal to you. The bitterness was not overwhelming and harsh but is in there. It is not something that would keep me from drinking this shot and it pretty typical for energy shots. I will give it a grade of C+ for taste.
Kick/ingredients. I drank it on down and waited. In 10 or so minutes I felt my energy cranking up. In 20 minutes I was going a full speed ahead. I was stuck at work or I know I would have had to do something physical like punch or kick stuff/people or lift weights, run ect. Good thing I was working alone I guess. Instead I was inspired by the goat skull on the label to crank up some classic Black Sabbath. I was drumming and singing up a storm for sure and I had one of those maniacal early Ozzy grins plastered on my face. This was a pretty strong kick and I was jittery and animated. The buzz lasted a solid 4 hours with only a tiny crash at the end. (Note to self: this is not a shot for work). So what is in Jitsu? Caffeine(same as 2 cups strong coffee), Taurine, Glucuronolactone, Tyrosine , B6 at 2000% dv, B12 at 8335% dv, and the enzyme blend of Amylase, Protease, Lipase, Cellulase, and Lactase. That is a pretty good line up and as always I like the enzyme blend which seems to work well for me. Grade B for kick/ingredients
Web presence: There is a website at jitsuenergy.com that is pretty good. You will find product info, usage info, a store, Jitsu girls, and loads of UFC info. You can tell this company is into MMA for real. Their MMA news is very up to date. The site is flash and the rotating images were a bit annoying along with the song that kept playing. Even after I paused the song it would start back up. Overall though it is well laid out and kept up to date so I give it a grade of B for web presence.
Recap:
I have to say that this shot pretty much lived up to its look. It was pretty strong and provided a kick that lasted. I hate when a drink or shot looks extreme but really is not. Jitsu proved that it is for real though. In MMA terms Jitsu was more like Brock Lesnar and not a wannbe like Kimbo Slice. Can’t wait to try their other shots. Next time I’ll make sure I have something or someone handy to punch though J
