One hit of me and you'll be so damn HIGH

Kronik Protein energy Dragon Orange

This is my 3rd Kronik Protein energy drinks to review and I’m impressed so far. I’m pretty sure that this one will be just as good as the others. I’ve had this flavor in the low carb version and it was great. I’m expecting this one to be even better though. Carbs equal energy so there is always that trade off.

Packaging: Comes in the 16 oz can. The can has a gold top which sets it apart from a lot of drinks right away visually at least. The majority of the can is an orange kind of granite pattern. Around the top the can is black and it reads “Powerful Hybrid Dragon Orange Protein Energy Supplement” in mixed orange and white fonts. The black portion is separated from the orange part of the can by a band of gold barb wire.  Next you have the name “Kronik” in a really cool gold font. I really like this font and it has an aggressive feel to it. The Phrase “Protein Energy” is below Kronik and I love that stamped font look. It’s like they made the label then stamped “Protein Energy” on it and it really emphasizes that aspect of the drink well.   Below that is a nice barb wire barb graphic followed by the slogan. The back has supplement facts and a little paragraph about the drink. Grade A. I think whoever designed these cans needs a raise.

Slogan:. “Caution: Power Too Sick for Science”   This slogan just flat out kicks ass and I never get tired of it. It aggressive and it’s right there on the can which looks aggressive.  Grade A+

Taste:  I chilled it down good and cold overnight and had this one in the morning instead of my coffee and my breakfast. I poured some in a glass and it came out a slightly cloudy orange liquid with no carbonation.  I take a sip and it is a nice sweet creamy orange flavor. It’s got a little of the whey taste to it but not as much as I remember the Dragon berry flavor having. There is no bitter aftertaste at all.  I think this makes for a great morning flavor. Like I have said before these drinks have a flavor like a smoothie and just feel more substantial than most energy drinks.  Your gonna like it if you try it I think. I give it an A for taste

Kick/Ingredients:  I wanted energy to do a bike ride and some working out. Just like my experiences with the other Kronik protein energy drinks I was smacked silly with a huge burst of energy. I actually got some work done on the computer while finishing the drink and then did my ride followed by my workout. Still hours later I was going strong and experienced no hunger even though I skipped breakfast. I’d say I easily had 5+ hours of mind blowing yet smooth energy with minimal crash at the end. The ingredients include 160 mg of caffeine, 2000 mg Taurine, and B vitamins along with the 56 grams of carbs and sugar(real sugar not HFCS!). There is also the following which sets it apart form most all others including Omega 3, Omega 6, and Omega 9 all from cranberry seed oil, 64 mg of calcium, 10 grams of protein. Omegas are good for your heart, calcium is good for your bones, and protein is good for building muscle and suppressing hunger. This is not your average drink at all.  Grade A for kick

Web Presence:  The Kronik website at kronikenergy.com is pretty nice. It is well laid out and easy to navigate. It’s cool without overdoing the flash graphics like too many sites do. There is plenty of content there like ingredients info, a store, athletes and bands they sponsor, downloads, photos, and more. I’m listening to Kronik radio on their site right now. They plays songs from their sponsored bands! Everything is up to date as well. No coming soon or old events like so many sites have. The site fits well with the image Kronik has. They have a really good myspace as well at myspace.com/kronikenergydrink that they keep up to date with blogs by athletes they sponsor and even some kronik myspace layouts. Still not much info on these new Kronik Protein energy drinks but they have added a picture of them to the front page. Grade A for web presence

Recap:

I think this whole lineup of Kronik protein energy drinks are taking it to a whole other level. This might be the next frontier in energy drinks. Not just empty calories and caffeine but a real drink that provide multiple benefits. I’m sad to say I only have one more left to review. The good news is that these drinks are being carried by 7-11 now and that should make it easy to get more. Grab some!
