I alone tempt you

Live Sugar free Energy Drink

Ever since I have heard of the Live line up of drinks I have wanted to try them. The whole charity concept behind the company is just a great idea. It’s like this. 50% of the profits from each drink go to a selected charity. Which flavor you choose determines which charity gets the money! Sure a lot of energy drink companies say they support charities but you never know how much. Live lets you know. This way when you are doing something you do every day (drinking energy drinks!) you can help out some others. I’m starting out with the Live sugar free which supports the fight against Breast cancer.

Packaging: This Live Sugar Free comes in a 12 oz slim can. The can is mostly white except at the bottom where it is pink. The name “Live” is spelled vertical on the can in pink with the V in live replaced by a pink ribbon. Below the name it reads “Energy drink” and “Sugar free” in a small black font. In the pink bottom portion it it tells you about the charity “Breast cancer” and how 50% of the profits are donated all in a white font. On the back you have a paragraph about the charitable aspects of Live and Nutritional facts. I like the pink color and the ribbon in the name. This immediately makes you notice that this is a charitable item. The overall white and pink can really has a nice clean look and really just says quality and maturity to me. Very classy. I will give them a grade of B+ for packaging.

Slogan: It’s right there on the can. “Drink For The Cause” Wow that really sums up the whole concept of Live and I have to give the a grade of A for slogan. Simple and really let’s you know what it is all about.

Taste: Once again I had no idea what to expect flavor wise since it is not listed anywhere. I popped open the top and got a very sweet scent I could not pin down. It was pretty strong but very pleasant.  I pour some in a cup and was very surprised. It is a bright yellow/green color and has a light carbonation. Taking a sip I am even more surprised that is not a RB clone. It is a much more complex flavor. I get some apple and pear but then there are some hints of vanilla along with a bit of cinnamon. Really it’s hard to say what the flavor is exactly but I will tell you it is very good. It avoids being overly sweet like a lot of SF drinks and it has no aftertaste at all. I enjoyed sipping it and just trying to figure out the flavor. Each sip seemed to be different. Like I said it is complex. I will give them a grade of B+ for taste. One of the better Sugar Free drinks I have had.

Kick/Ingredients: Drinks in pink cans don’t usually hold a lot of promise for kick. I drank my Live sugar free over about 15 or so minutes when I was hitting a wall while working a night shift. You know it’s like that after lunch slump when you need a kick start bad. In about 10 minutes I was back to full speed and very alert and talkative. It really busted me out of my sleepiness and I was able to concentrate on some mundane task with plenty of energy to spare. The buzz lasted me the last 4 hours I had to get through a long night.  The energy comes from Taurine, Caffeine, inositol, Glucuronolactone, and plenty of B vitamins. There are no calories, carbs, or sugar. It is sweetened with sucralose. I will give it a solid B for kick. Pretty good for a drink in a pink can.

Web Presence: Live has a website at drinklive.org that is pretty nice. It has a clean look and feel like the packaging does. It is easy to navigate as well. It has sections on Mission, Causes, Flavors, events, community, and retailers. It could use more ingredients information I think but otherwise is very professional and well done. They also have a facebook group. I will give them a B- for web presence.

Recap:

Wow I wanted to try this drink for the concept but really I am impressed with it as an energy drink. It has a great taste and a really good kick. So you can get your energy drink fix proper and feel good about it since you are helping a charity. Hard to beat that combo.  Don’t let the pink can put you off if you’re a man. This is a great drink that anyone will enjoy. Of course to all my women readers you will feel comfortable drinking this with its classy packaging and you will still get a major kick.  Give this drink a try.
