Long Haul Energy plus Berry Blast

This drink seems like a natural. An energy drink made for truck drivers. I mean truckers need caffeine and energy so why not make a drink they can call their own? Truck stops are great places to find energy drinks and that is where I found this one.
Packaging: You know this can just looks old. The whole thing is kind of faded looking. The Long Haul Nutrition logo looks ok with it’s silver grill and all but otherwise the can just looks cheap. There is a diamond plate pattern in the background but you can hardly see it because it is so faint. If to wanted to use diamond plate they should have did it like Hooters energy did. Grade D for packaging. It is at least not a shrink wrap label but that is about all it has going for it.
Slogans: “The road to good health starts here” is printed on the side of the can. You also have “Fuel For Truckers” on the front. The Fuel one is a good one so I will give it a grade of C for slogans.
Taste ect: It is supposed to be a berry flavor based on the name. I pop the top and the smell is classic RB clone all the way. Pouring some in a cup it comes out a cloudy dark caramel color with a very heavy carbonation. There is a big head of foam on this drink. Taking a sip I get a fairly clean apple with some hints of berry followed by a truck load of bitterness at the finish. To top it all off there was a fair amount of sediment in the bottom of the cup. I know this drink is all natural but it was more sediment than I would like in my drink. I hope truck drivers have better taste than this. This drink just did not taste very good. It was not gummy which is a bonus but the bitterness and lackluster berry flavoring just add up to a bad drink. Grade D for taste
Kick/Ingredients: Ok I was sleepy and wanted to have energy to get in a run after work. I begrudgingly drank the entire can. It 15 minute I felt much more alert. I got a nice mid level buzz and was talkative and energetic for at least 3 to 4 hours. There was a crash at the end but nothing monumental. I did make it through work and got my run in. I’d like to say Long Haul allowed me to put the hammer down but at most it kept me at the posted speed limit. This drink is all natural and contains Kola Nut, Taurine, Ginseng, Caffeine from Green tea and green coffee extracts, Blue berry extract, pomegranate, B vitamins, Lutein, and some minerals. The exact amount of most ingredients are hidden in the “LHN” energy blend of 860 mg. The Blueberry and Lutiene are supposed to be good for your eye which is important for a truck driver. Grade C for kick/ingredients.
Web presence: The website at longhaulnutrition.com is an ok site but it is new. It has a Faq, Trucker Health, News and testimonials. The Faq is not bad but otherwise there is not much ingredient info. I will give it a grade of C- for web presence
Recap:
Ok so I think Truckers really deserve better. Better packaging, better taste, better kick. I understand they don’t want to be jittery but there are much better choices out there that will provide what a trucker needs. I actually think there are some energy shots out there that would really be a better choice. This drink had me hitting the bathroom frequently and I think truckers don’t want to be stopping that much.
