Don't trip, get a grip, be strong and don't fake it
Met-RX Amplified Shooter fruit punch
So here is the first energy product I have tried from Met-Rx. This is a company that has been around a while and is well known in the body building community. Will it deliver the kind of extreme energy that work out type drinks often are? Thanks to Rush Stop for this sample. They are a good place to get your hands on this product.
Packaging: What is it with the whole test tube/phallic containers and work out shots? Is it that people see the test tube and think of pharmaceuticals? Really I think most people think they look more like dildos than test tubes. Still it is not a bad package and it has a nice font for the name. It will definitely catch your eye. Just don’t leave a bunch of empties on your night stand. Grade B
Slogan: Closest I could find is “Mind/Body Energy Magnifier” which is definitely unique. First time I have heard of an energy magnifier. Not catchy but it is ok. Grade C
Taste: So I open the lid and get a nice fruit punch scent and mo medicinal smell. The liquid itself is a dark pink color. I take a sip and I get a nice mild fruit punch. It is not overly sweet but it does have a hint of energy ingredients at the finish. Usually these kind of shots are super artificial sweet. This one somewhat avoids that. Not a bad tasting shot at all. Grade B
Kick/Ingredients: So I drank it down and waited for a huge hit of energy. I did not get it right away but instead it slowly built up to peak in about 30 minutes. It was a smooth increase to a great mid to high level buzz with no jitters. The thing is that this energy lasted a solid 5+ hours. I was expecting quick and powerful but instead I got smooth, strong, and long lasting energy. I mean I did not yawn or feel tired for 5 hours even though I was on night shift. The energy ingredients in the 3 oz shot include 200 mg caffeine, Taurine, Inositol, Tyrosine, Green tea extract, White Willow, Yerba Mate, and a unique ingredient called Synephrine. Surprisingly no B vitamins are in this shot? It comes in at 10 calories and 2 grams of carbs. No sugar is listed and it is sweetened with sucralose and ace k. I’ll give it a solid B for kick/ingredients. Not as hard hitting as expected but I like the long lasting energy.
Web Presence: The website at metrx.com is pretty good. They have product info, a store, a bunch of cool training videos, meal plans, and a section with wallpapers of hot chicks. The wallpapers come in different resolutions including one for the iPhone. If you are a guy don’t miss out on these. Then again if you are a girl you might enjoy them as well. They have a Twitter but no Facebook or Myspace that I could find. Grade B for web presence.

So I was more than happy with this shot. It tasted pretty good and delivered a long lasting strong kick. Then there is the package(actually saying package with a container like this is fun) that is resealable and durable. You can even you the empty container for other things. Get your mind out of the gutter. I mean like storing pencils or stashing a bunch in your friends check in baggage. Those screeners will get a kick out of that lol. Check these out if you need some good long lasting energy.
