Monster Nitrous Anti Gravity

Ok as much as I love finding a rare energy drink what I love even more is being one of the first to get my hands on a new drink from one of the major players. Monster continues to expand at a rapid rate. It seems they will try most anything to get more market share. Now I am happy to bring you one of the first if not the first review of the new Nitrous line from Monster. The Nitrous line is carbonated with Nitrous and carbon dioxide which is a first as far as I know. The flavor I am reviewing today is Anti-Gravity.

Packaging: This is another area where Monster tries everything. How many different types of containers do they use?  This is a new one to me. It is a 12 ounce battery type can with a screw on top. These resealable types of cans are usually reserved for large drinks. This one is super cool with a weird bubbly orange background pattern. The name Nitrous is at the bottom in a really cool font and the Monster M is right up front. Really this is a nice packaging job that will stand out well at the store. Grade B+ for packaging

Slogans:  “Unleash the Nitrous Beast” is right on the can along with a cool little blurb about the product. Really nice job with a drink specific slogan that is aggressive. Grade A-

Taste ect:  I had no idea what to expect since there was no info to be found about these new drinks. I twist off the top and get a nice tropical scent. I pour some in a cup and it comes out a cloudy orange and has a super foamy head. I mean this is weird looking and the foam last like the head on a beer or root beer. I take a sip and get a nice juice like orange flavor that is washed over by some really nice sweet mango. It is a really a great combo.  Now for the weird part. In your mouth this drink is super foamy and creamy. It’s like it is super carbonated but it does not have the burn like from regular carbonation and you can pretty much chug it down. If you have ever had a whipped yogurt or a chocolate mouse then it’s kind of like that as far as mouth feel goes. Light and airy. There is also no after taste or bitterness. Grade B for taste

Kick/Ingredients: I was excited and so I pretty much drank it down in a matter of minutes. I began to feel the effects. I got a pretty good and somewhat mildly jittery buzz. I was going pretty hard and plowed through my work with glee and enthusiasm. I was easily going full out for 4 to 5 solid hours with really no crash at the end. The “Blend” for energy is 5000mg which is the same as in a 16 oz Monster. The ingredients differ a little though with 2000 mg of Taurine, 400 mg Ginseng, and 200% of your dv for B2, B3, B6, B12. The “energy blend” of Glucose, L-Carnitine, Caffeine, Inositol, Guarana, Glucuronolactone, maltodextrin, and yerba mate. The Yerba Mate is new to Monster drinks as far as I know.  You get all this with 160 calories and 38 grams of sugars. I give this on a grade of B+ for kick/ingredients

Web presence:  monsterenergy.com is a great and entertaining website filled with tons of content. You can waste a lot of time poking around there. You won’t find a lot of ingredient and product info but there is plenty of media, a store, contest, and of course extreme sports. There is no info on their website about any of these new Nitrous drinks yet. Grade A-

Recap:

So what are we up to now as far as different drinks and shots from Monster? I count 20 when you include these new Nitrous drinks.  I was very impressed with this new drink from Monster. It seems to kick just as hard as a 16 oz Monster drink and it is totally unique and tasty. You have to try this drink at least just to experience the Nitrous carbonation experience. I think once you do you will be hooked. I am not a regular Monster energy drink consumer but I think that might change.
