Coffee anyone?
Java Monster Russian
Well I’m holding off on the rest of my healthier energy drink segment with so I can get these big reviews out on the new java monster drinks. There is a bunch so I’m going to start off on the ones I am the most interested in. This first one is the Russian.
Packaging: Well it is the typical 16oz Monster energy drink can. This is not the usual wood grain Java Monster design though. It is red with a stone like pattern with the Big Gold M in the middle. The word Russian is in black and gold at the top and all the main text is in this same black and gold font. On the sides are some cool Russian spires with their Classic onion domes as well as the coat of arms of Russia. They replaced the center of the coat of arms with the Monster M logo. There is also a Russian flag(hammer and sickle) as well as a red star. I think they got it out that this is a Russian drink. I’ll give them a grade of A for this can (there is an image of the side at the bottom of this review)
Slogans: Coffee + Energy is not really much of a slogan. There is like an entire paragraph on the back that goes on about a non-alcoholic version of your favorite coffee cocktail. I’m going to give them a grade of C- since there is not really a logo but the whole paragraph is at least something. Actually the whole paragraph is a big cop out on the whole alcohol energy drink controversy. These big companies promote it but deny it.
Taste ect: It comes out of the can a medium brown color and it smells like coffee liquor such as Kahlua. It has a very thick look and feel and is non carbonated. The main ingredient is listed as reduced fat milk so that would explain the thickness. It taste super creamy and exactly like Kahlua taste. I’ve had a black Russian and it is not creamy or this sweet. Maybe straight Kahlua taste this sweet? It is a nice flavor though and most people will probably enjoy this. If you like super creamy coffee drinks you will love this one. I was thirsty after drinking this and needed some water to clear out the taste which lingers a long time. I will give them a Grade of C for taste. It is a little too sweet and creamy for my taste.
Kick/Ingredients: The ingredients are Reduced fat milk, water, sucrose, glucose, coffee, taurine(2000mg), and the usual Monster energy blend of L-carnitine, caffeine(160mg), guarana, glucose, inositol, maltodextrin, and glucuronalactone. There are plenty of B vitamins as well as some vitamin C. So figure on a nice medium boost which I got and one that last a good while. It has 200 calories and 3 grams of fat. I did crash kinda hard after 3 or 4 hours though. I will give them a B for kick. Monster drinks are pretty much all the same energy ingredient wise so it is typical of Monster drinks but better than average.
Web presence: You can find tons of Monster stuff on the net. They their site at monsterenergy.com of course and Google has tons of hits for monster drinks. All that said though and you will find almost no information for these new Java monster drinks. I heard of them weeks ago and there is no mention anywhere on their website and almost no where on the rest of the net. I’ll give them a grade of D for web presence. It would be an F but I figure in the future they might get more information up.
