Yeah, yeah, it’s what you want huh?
Monster Zero Ultra

Finally I got my hands on one of the 2 new Monster drinks that are coming out. I have been scouring every store I can looking for this drink. It is supposed to be a lighter less sweet monster drink with no carbs, sugar, or calories. Let’s see if it was worth all the effort.
Packaging: Holy crap! Right off I will say this is probably one of the coolest and most amazing packaging I have seen for an energy drink. It is a frosty white can with a white top and black tab. The can itself has a Paisley type design in silver and in the paisley portion the can is textured. It is freaky feeling and very cool. This can will be easy to grip for sure. The Monster M in the middle of the can is silver from the metal can. Really great design that stands out. Grade A++
Slogan: “Unleash the Ultra Beast” is on the can and it is a great slogan that is drink specific. Grade A
Taste: So I pop the top with much anticipation and right off I know this drink is different. It does not smell like a Monster energy drink at all. In fact it does not smell like any energy drink. I detect a nice unique citrus smell. Pouring some in a cup I am surprised when it comes out a frosty white color like the can. It has a medium carbonation. Taking a sip I get a really interesting citrus and grapefruit flavor. I am not going to lie this drink taste like a Fresca or grapefruit soda. The level of sweetness is just spot on and not cloying or gummy. It goes down smooth. I guess you could call it an jacked up citrus soda heavy on the grapefruit. This is going to be my go to Monster drink for taste. Grade A+
Kick/ingredients: So this drink was consumed fast and it hit me just as fast. In minutes I had a really good buzz going. No Jitters but I was animated, energized, and talkative. I was able to focus though and my conversations were coherent and I was able to get some work done as well. I got a good 3 to 4 hours of good strong energy with no crash. This drink has the “energy blend” at 2800 mg per can. Now some have said this seems low but in full sugar Monster drinks the blend includes glucose and in this drink there is none of that in the blend. The blend does have Taurine, Ginseng, Guarana, Inositol, Glucuronolactone, L-Carnitine , Maltlodextrin, and B vitamins at the 200% level. I think it most likely has a caffeine content of 135 mg matching the Moster Absolutely Zero. Of course there is zero carbs, sugar, or calories. Grade B
Web Presence: No need to go through this again. The site is at monsterenergy.com and if you like extreme sports, hot chicks, and tons of multimedia they deliver in spades. They also provide some product info. One of the best out there. My only gripe is the lack of quantitative ingredients info. Grade A- for web presence.
Recap:
Usually I am more of a fan of the smaller drink companies but I have to say Monster really nailed it this time. Awesome unique can with textured grip, Amazing not too sweet citrus and grapefruit flavor, nice strong energy kick, and even the slogan was great. Let’s put it this way. When I am at my local store this will be the drink I will be most likely to reach for.
