Prepare for the attack

Nitro 2 Go FU ( Firepower Unleashed)

You know this company has really been around a long time. A lot of people probably counted them out. While a lot of companies came and went Nitro 2 Go is still hanging in there. In fact they have some new drinks and I am happy to review one of them here.

Packaging: Nitro 2 Go FU comes in the typical 16 oz can. The can label is all black. Around the top it list key ingredients in red font. In the middle is a little Nitro2Go logo and then there is a very big “FU” printed in the middle. The FU is in a crazy splatter white font. Below that you have “Firepower Unleashed” in a similar red font. On one side of the can there is a label for nitrorocks.com which is a music site run by the same company. On this side of the can is the web address as well as silhouette in white of a rock band playing. The back of the can has nutrition facts. Grade B for packaging. I like the big FU and its font. This can has attitude.

Slogans:  On the website there is this slogan “When Slowing Down Just Isn’t an Option” which works pretty well for me. Grade B- for slogan

Taste: No mention of the flavor so not sure what to expect. Once I open the can I get the classic energy drink scent. Pouring some in a glass it is a golden brown color with a heavy carbonation. Taking a sip I get the classic RB clone flavor but less gummy and with no after taste. It leans more to the white grape side of a classic energy drink flavor and is fairly tart. It has some bite to it. It is pretty sweet but overall it is pretty good. I would say it is one of the better versions of a RB clone that I have tried. I will give it a solid B-

Kick/Ingredients. So I had a lot of little things I need to do. You know the kind of things you put off all the time. These things needed to be done but required some motivation to get past my procrastination. I drank the FU (Firepower Unleashed) down pretty quick for a 16 oz drink. I was reading the comics and goofing off. In ten of 15 minutes though I felt the need to get off of my butt and do something. I had a good buzz going and sitting around was just not an option anymore. I got those little things done in no time flat and then I was really jacked up good so I cranked up some music (Mudvayne seemed to fit my mood). I was jamming out and having a good time with my energy. I flailed through the next 3 or 4 hours with reckless abandon all the while wishing I was at a party or something where I could really enjoy my energy. There was a slight crash after 4 hours but nothing major. So what provides all this Firepower? Caffeine(don’t have a clue how much but has to be at least 160 mg I’d guess), 1000 mg Taurine, Glucucuronolactone, inositol, B vitamins,  and 100% of your DV vitamin C. You get 220 calories, 29 grams of carbs, and 27 grams of sugar. It is sweetened with regular sugar and no HFC. I’ll give it a grade of B- for kick. It is better than average for sure

Web presence: Well first you have nitro2go.com which is an ok site. You have some pictures, a store, some links and a bit more. No real ingredients info though. They also have the Nitrorocks.com which does not have a lot to do with the drink but does have some cool music to listen to as well as some videos and pictures. It was fun to poke around on. Both sites are east to navigate but not real professional or flashy. I give them a grade of C- for web presence. I’d like to see more product info for sure.

Recap:

For a company to last this long(at least 5 years) it has to be because they make good quality products that people enjoy and have good management. I think the packaging on this can is much better than the original Firepower. The sweet white grape flavor was pretty good and I liked the bite it had at the finish. I would say grab a can of this drink when you see it. It has attitude and energy. Let me know what you think.
