I’ve got nitrous oxide on my brain

NOS Grape

NOS has established itself as a top shelf energy drink company with its original line up of NOS and NOS sugar free. Potent energy, good taste, and a good packaging design. I was excited to hear they were coming out with new flavors. I finally got my hands on the NOS Grape. Lets see how it is.
Packaging: At the moment NOS Grape is only in the 16oz aluminum can. I have heard however that they will be releasing it in the NOS plastic bottles soon though. For now I’ll review the can. Typical NOS can but purple. It has the NOS logo vertical on the can with Grape printed in the arrow portion of the logo. Around the top are the key ingredients listed in a contrasting yellow font. It also reads “High Performance energy drink) at the bottom. On the back is a big yellow label section with the NOS logo again and supplement facts. I will give them a grade of B for packaging. I like the logo and I like the yellow label portion on the back. It just looks good. The metallic purple color of the overall can is sharp as well.
Slogan: Not much to work with here. Not sure why they don’t have much of a slogan. I guess “High performance energy drink” is a slogan of sorts but with the name NOS there really should be something better. I will give them a C- for slogan. Come on NOS you can do better than that.
Taste: Grape is a cool flavor I think. How is the NOS Grape though? Well it smells like a nice grape soda and it has a light purple color with a medium level of carbonation. The taste is a classic grape soda flavor. It is on the sweet side of that flavor though. I did not find it to be very thirst quenching since it was so sweet. I would have to rank it below Pimp juice purple but much higher than Amp Traction as far as grape flavored energy drinks go. It has a clean finish with no gumminess or oily mouth feel. I will give it a solid B- for Taste. Not the best but better than most.
Kick/Ingredients: Well NOS is well know for its kick and Grape NOS is no exception. I drank the entire 16 oz can and was cranked up good for 3 or so hours and actually quite a bit jittery. In a 16oz can you get 250 mg of Caffeine, 2000mg of Taurine, 200 mg of Inositol,100 mg of Ginseng, and 200% of your B12 and B6. Top that off with 54 mg of sugar and 220 calories and you got a pretty strong drink. I did have a crash coming down but that is to be expected with a fully loaded sugar drink. The sugar is from HFC and there are a lot of artificial ingredients with long names. I will give them a grade of B for Kick/ingredients. Strong energy with a crash and I could stand for less strange ingredients.

Web Presence: Web presence is not an after though for NOS. They have a top notch website at drinknos.com. The site is well laid out with the whole racing theme. You got everything you need. Product info, Promotions, Team NOS(racing ect), News, wallpaper downloads, NOS TV, NOS girls, and photos of  hot cars and hotter chicks! Only thing missing is a store. I will give them a grade of A for web presence.

Recap:

I enjoyed the NOS Grape but I can’t say it will be a part of my regular lineup. I like the regular and sugar free NOS better taste wise. It is hard to beat the kick of a NOS drink in general so if you want an easy to find energy drink and you like very sweet grape soda try the NOS Grape.
