Dude Face the Fear
OC Energy Kik-it original

Ok I’ve had these for a while and drank several so I think I can give a good review on this one. OC drinks come in some really cool plastic bottles and that is what got me interested in the first place. Never under estimate good packaging.
Packaging: OC Kik-it comes in a cool 10.14 oz uniquely shaped plastic bottle. It is a curvy kind of dumbbell shaped bottle with a screw on lid. The bottle is shrink wrapped with a red label with an interesting swirl patter in the background and solid black around the bottom. At the top you have “OC energy” in a Yellow and Red font over a black circle. Below that is a silhouette of 3 people who look like they are on the beach and they are hotter than you! Below that it reads Kik-it Original Energy drink” in a yellow font that looks like a graffiti font. On the back you have your nutrition facts as well as a blurb about using the drink as a mixer or just drinking it by itself. There is also a little TAPS logo (TAPS is a non-profit veteran's service organization providing support services to all those coping with the death of a military loved one.). Lastly you have “Wake Up” on top of the lid. I will give them a grade of A- for packaging. It is a nice bottle that looks unique and fits in your hand well. The label shows an attitude that will attract a certain crowd. It truly stands out with its shape and style.
Slogan: Not a lot to work with here I thought at first. Then I saw the cap. “Wake Up” Not only is that quick and to the point but putting it on top of the lids is a great way to grab ones attention. I will give them a grade of B for slogan. Nothing exciting or super catchy but the placing of the slogan really works well.
Taste: I open the bottle and I’m greeted by a non carbonated medium blue liquid. It smells like a sweet kool-aid drink. I drink a little and it is a nice light mixed berry flavor with a hint of lemon at the finish. I slammed the rest because it goes down smooth and light with no gumminess and only a little after taste. I like the lightness of the flavor and the fact that it is very water like in consistency and pretty damn thirst quenching. I tried it in a mixed drink as well (OC Splash) with vodka, triple sec and lime juice and it made a great summer mixed beverage as well. I will give it a grade of B for taste. Better than a lot of other drinks especially other non carbonated ones.
Kick/ingredients. I drank Kik it and I immediately got a pretty good boost. Not over the top but I was not going to be sitting around. I had to get busy doing things and really could not sit still. I don’t know the amounts but it does have Taurine ,caffeine, Ginseng , and Guarana along with a host of B vitamins and 100% of your Vitamin C. It only has 117 calories and 29 grams of sugar(from HFC). I will give it a grade of B for kick. Better than average and it lasted me 3 or 4 hours with no big crash.
Web presence: OC has a nice website at ocenergydrink.com. It has good flow and good information. You have your store, your story section, event, product information, new section, and the OC girls section. Hard to go wrong with hot chicks I always say. It is worth visiting for sure. I will give them a grade of B for web presence. The official site is nice but I would like to see more ingredients information. They do have a Myspace page where you can see more hot chicks as well. I like the fact that they do a good job with the whole OC theme on the official site.
Recap:
I really enjoyed OC Kik-it both alone and mixed in a drink. They don’t shy away from the mixing of their drink with alcohol and in fact promote it. It mixes well since it has no carbonation. I like the light flavor and the fact you can reseal the bottle. The kick was pretty damn good and the bottle was cool. This is a drink I think you should try and I know it is one I will be drinking again.
